Sold out crowd at the CU Events Center
The CU Events Center is located just north of the Kittredge student housing complex on the Boulder campus and is home to the University of Colorado men's and women's basketball teams since 1979, and the volleyball program since 1988.  It has also housed locker rooms for Colorado Lacrosse since 2014.

Originally called the CU Events/Conference Center, the arena was renamed to the Coors Events Center in September 1990 in honor of a $5 million gift from the Adolph Coors Foundation. The Events Center was named after the Coors family in recognition of this gift and their generous support of the university.  The name was changed to the CU Events Center on July 1, 2018.

The $7.7 million facility was financed by a combination of funds. State legislative appropriation, federal grants, private contributions and university funds all played a major part in the facility's construction revenue. The CU Events Center (CEC) combines modern facilities with beauty, comfort and flexibility. The Center's versatility provides an ideal location for sporting events, seminars, meetings, concerts, trade shows and a myriad of other activities. It is truly multi-purpose in nature and design.

Since the Events Center opened, it’s gone through a multitude of upgrades.  Video boards and ribbon boards came online in the fall of 2009, and a new Bose sound system was installed in the summer of 2016.

There are three levels to the Events Center. The arena floor, service level, occupies 8,000 square feet, while the street level takes up 15,000 square feet and houses one large conference room (on the second level). The concourse level contains the main entrances, offices, concession areas, ticket offices and a first-aid room.

The Events Center seats 11,064 for basketball and offers a great view from any seat. The largest crowd was 11,363 (standing room only) and featured a men's basketball game between CU/Kansas, Jan. 22, 2001 (KU, 85-75).

The headquarters for CU Basketball, completed in April 2008, allows the Buffs' coaches, student-athletes and staff more convenient access to the playing floor, practice gym, locker rooms, weight room and sports medicine facilities within the Events Center.

In 2008 the CEC underwent a $200,000 "Floor Lift" as a permanent maple surface was installed that has energy return technology that reduces injuries and fatigue. The high grade maple features the signature Buffalo on Russell "Sox" Walseth Court.  Walseth served as CU's men's basketball coach from 1957-76, posting the most wins of any coach in program history (261). Additionally, Walseth served as CU's women's basketball coach from 1980-83, totaling a 77-21 mark.

The CUEC is within walking distance from all points of campus, and parking for Colorado basketball games is free to the public in the parking garage located just north of the arena. The southwest entrance faces the majestic flatirons, the mountains located west of campus, providing Colorado fans with one of most beautiful views in all of collegiate athletics when they arrive to the game.

The building has hosted its share of concerts. Bob Dylan, U2, Stevie Wonder. Migos, and Jethro Tull are just some of the artists who have taken the stage in the CU Events Center, providing an indoor venue for CU students and Boulder residents equipped to attract some of the best entertainers in the World. In recent history, the CU Events Center has hosted President Barack Obama and the His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama.
