
CU WOMEN's TENNIS DEFEATS PORTLAND 5-1

The Buffaloes, ranked No. 57 in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association poll, grabbed their first win to bring them to 1-2 on the season, while the Pilots fall to 0-4.
Colorado dominated the meeting from the beginning, sweeping all of the doubles matches. No.1 doubles, Morgan Sall and Kendra Strandemo had a close rally, but they came out on top 9-7. Freshman Lynzee Kever and Sophomore Jessica Vanderdys took the No. 2 doubles match defeating Kaori Tanabe and Alyson Tyson 8-4. On the court for the first time for the Buffs, sophomore transfer Kristy Randono joined Freshman Martina Sedivec as they controlled the No. 3 doubles match against Jackie Soltysik and Adele Rockett 8-1.
The Buffaloes' underclassman dominated their singles matches. Freshman Lynzee Kever captured her first win at the No. 1 singles position, easily defeating Pilot Cristin Sammis 6-1, 6-1. Sophomore Jessica Vanderdys moved up to the No. 2 singles spot and controlled Sanja Indic 6-2, 6-2. Freshman Martina Sedivec has proven her way at No. 4 singles, as she beat Solystik 6-4, 6-4.
Colorado will next host the Air Force Academy at 2:00 p.m. (MST) on Feb. 7, which is the first of five matches the Buffs will host throughout February.
