Quickly CU has now won back-to-back games in conference play for the first time since 2007 (first time two straight over North teams since 2005-the last time CU won three straight Big 12 games) ... The CU-KSU series likely concludes for the foreseeable future with Colorado owning a 45-20-1 lead (28-5 in Boulder); CU's 44 points were its most in the series since a 54-7 win in Boulder in 1992 ... This was the highest scoring game in the series, topping the 1969 game in Boulder that CU won, 45-32 (77 points) ... Colorado has now scored in 12 straight quarters ... CU had a season high in total offense (476) and won the time of possession battle for the 10th time in 11 games (30:51) ... All 14 first down plays in the first quarter were rushes (8 CU, 6 KSU); in fact, 25 of the 30 plays by both in the quarter were rushing plays, a factor in the quarter taking only 34 minutes to play ... P Zach Grossnickle has had a wild year, but when needed the most, he pinned the opponent inside their own 10 for the sixth time this season ... DE Josh Hartigan became the first Buff to record three quarterback sacks in a game since Abraham Wright had three versus CSU in Denver on Sept. 9, 2006 ... PK Aric Goodman's 48-yard field goal in the first quarter tied for his second longest as a Buff (matching vs. Missouri in 2009); his career long is 54 which he made versus CSU, also in 2009) ... WR Paul Richardson caught his fifth touchdown pass, tying Michael Westbrook for the most by any freshman, true or redshirt, in a single season; he now has 461 yards, 27 behind Scotty McKnight's frosh record of 488 in 2007.
OFFENSIVE EXPLOSION-CU has scored 123 points in the last three games, the most in a 3-game run since 124 in 2002 (and first time 30+ in three straight games since a five game run that year.
2ND QTR ABOUT FACE-CU outscored (14-0) and outgained (151-50) Kansas State in the second quarter; coming in, CU had been on the short end of 105-67 in points and 1331-867 in yards in the period.
PENALTIES-CU had season lows in penalties (2) and yards (5); previous lows were 3-21 versus Georgia. It was also the fewest of both since not being flagged against Texas Tech on Oct. 14, 2006.
SACK-FEST Colorado had six quarterback sacks today (15 in the last two weeks), and now have 33 on the season; it's first time CU has had over 30 since 2004 (31), matching the 2002 total (but in 13 games) and the most since the '95 team registered 37.
TRICKERY The halfback pass that covered 23 yards for a touchdown from Rodney Stewart to Toney Clemons was the first thrown by a running back at CU since Nov. 20, 1993 (Lamont Warren 49 yards to Charles E. Johnson at Iowa State). The last TD pass thrown by a non-QB was by WR Javon Green (29 yards to a QB, Craig Ochs vs. Oklahoma State in Boulder, Oct. 28, 2000). It was Stewart's first career pass attempt (his quarterback rating is a hefty 523.2).
TB RODNEY STEWART (34-195, 2 TD; 2-49 REC; 1-1, 23, 1 TD PASSING; 11 FDE) He enjoyed a career-high day in yards and now has 1,230 on the year, the seventh highest single-season total in CU history. That upped his career total to 2,656, passing Herchell Troutman (2,487) and James Mayberry (2,544) into seventh place and sitting on the heels of both Hugh Charles (2,659) and Chris Brown (2,690). He had his 14th career 100-yard day, now tied for the second most in CU history (with Chris Brown and Rashaan Salaam), only Eric Bieniemy had more (22); that number is also good for the 12th most 100-yard career games by an active player in NCAA I-A/FBS. Stewart has 493 yards in the last three games (164.3 per). He became the 23rd player in CU history to score 20 touchdowns (finished the day with 21). He earned 11 first downs (8 rushing, 1 passing, 2 receiving).

ALL-BIG 12 HEAD-TO-HEAD Stewart's got little or no love from the media, yet he has comparable numbers to K-State's Daniel Thomas, and as usual for the Buffaloes, "Speedy's" had to do it playing one of the nation's toughest schedules. Take a look: Stewart (34-195, 2 TD today/season: 270-1,230. 10 TD; 27-271, 1 TD receiving; Daniel Thomas (14-58, 0 TD today/season: 240-1,224, 14 TD; 26-163 receiving).
QB CODY HAWKINS (25-14-0, 202, 3 TD) He now has 7,246 career passing yards, second all-time and 129 behind leader Joel Klatt (7,375). With 657 completions, he is but nine behind Klatt (666); Hawkins already leads in attempts (1,188), touchdowns (58) and interceptions (39). He also became the third to surpass the 7,000 yard mark in total offense (7,087), trailing Kordell Stewart (7,770) and Klatt (7,245). In his last three games (59-of-93, 790 yards, 9 TD/2 INT), his passer rating is 162.43.
Cody Hawkins is the first player in school history to throw three touchdown passes in three consecutive games.
WR SCOTTY McKNIGHT (4-74, 2 TD) He took over CU's all-time lead in touchdown receptions with 22 (he was tied with Derek McCoy and Rae Carruth), and now with 2,511 receiving yards, he passed Charles E. Johnson (2,447) into third place and is right in the shadow of the top two (Michael Westbrook 2,548; Carruth 2,540). He keeps adding to his all-time reception total (212) and extended his NCAA-active best regular season streak to 47 games with at least one reception (every game of his career, 48 including postseason; East Carolina's Dwayne Harris is next with 42).
COLORADO INJURIES S Deji Olatoye (fractured forearm) will have surgery but may still be able to play next week at Nebraska.
