The home team took a 1-0 advantage in the doubles competition taking two of three points. On court three, sophomore Ania Anuszkiewicz and freshman Erin Sanders took an easy 8-2 winner over Sarah Lancaster and Caroline Larsson. Anuszkiewicz/Sanders won their first match together in three conference tries.
At No. 1 doubles, Milewski and Melisa Esposito, playing for only the second time as a tandem over their respective collegiate careers, broke the school doubles record upsetting Texas' 51st ranked team of Vanja Corovic/Aeriel Ellis, 8-4.
Esposito/Milewski secured their 77th career win each, jumping out to a commanding 4-0 lead and held on clinching the doubles point for the Buffaloes. On the season, Esposito and Milewski each won their 19th doubles match of the year.
Texas lost the doubles point for only the third time this season in 11 conference matches. They defeated Nebraska, 6-1 and lost to Baylor, 5-2.
In singles, Milewski improved to 8-1 against the Big 12 this season and has now won 13 of 15 singles matches. Her 25 wins ties the 2006-07 season when she also earned an NCAA Singles Tournament bid.
The win on Sunday was Milewski's 90th of her career becoming only the second women's tennis player in school to win that many matches (Emily Smith, 95, 1995-99).
"I'm very proud of how the team came out and competed today," said CU head coach Nicole Kenneally. "It was a solid doubles point. Obviously it was loss, but I think it was the most solid performance we have played against Texas in four or five years. We'll take that momentum into the Big 12 Tennis Championships next week."
