Colorado Head Coach Linda Lappe
General
"I'm really proud of how we finished. I feel like we've gotten a lot better. Throughout this last week, we've been able to really break some things down offensively and defensively. I liked how we finished our shots a little better, I liked how we finished rebounds a little better and I thought we finished the game on a really strong note, and that should give us a lot of confidence moving forward."
On Colorado's Balanced Scoring
"I thought all of our players understood the shot that we wanted to take and they did a nice job of putting each other in position to be able to hit shots and take great shots. We recognized when we had a mismatch, we went at it and did a nice job of converting. We are very balanced. It's one of the strongest parts of our game. We don't have on player that's going to score 30 to 35 points every single night. Our offense involves moving the ball around, setting screens for each other and just working together to give each other shots, and I thought we all did a great job of that tonight."
On Colorado's Turnovers
"I thought our turnovers really hurt us in the first half. We were on the verge of really blowing the game open and turned the ball over too many times in succession, but also too many times in transition. I felt like we would do a nice job on the defensive end and would get a stop, but then would just give it right back to them in a matter of five seconds and have to play 30 more seconds of defense. That wears on you after a while and I thought we just could have made a little better decisions. I thought our passing tonight was significantly better. We focused a lot on our passing and catching. I thought it was extremely different than what it was in the last game, but tonight it was more just making the right decision and that will come as the season comes along."
On this Level of Competition Early in the Season
"It's definitely the toughest schedule since I've been here, we knew that coming in, but we also felt like this team could handle it. We have a nice group of veterans that have all played a lot of minutes and been in a lot of different situations. So we've already played in three really close games and had a chance to win two of them. I like what we've learned about our team in the first three games, and I think we can take this and use it. It shows us what we need to get better at and our players have done a really nice job of coming to practice, really focusing on those things and getting better."
On Containing Aundrea Gamble
"She's a really good player and was tough for us to guard. I think we did wear her down as the game went along. She made some unbelievable shots, which she does every game. They've had two other games so far this year and I think she's scored 30 points in every game. She finds a way to get her shot off and has that really nice floater when she gets in the lane that she started using in the second half as our defensive intensity cranked up on her. You have to give the players guarding her, Lexy Kresl, Haley Smith and Jasmine Sborov credit. We have those three players we were able to rotate onto her and I think, in the end, we started to wear her down a little.                                Â

Jamee Swan, Jr., F
On overcoming a late second half run by ASU
"Our Senior leadership really helped bring us back together when things got out of hand."
On her personal game (and 2 big assists to Lauren Huggins)
"Our movement on the floor was really good. At one point I was under the rim and I knew that Lauren would be where I needed her to be and I just threw it there. I hate to admit that I didn't look but I trusted she would be there and she was there."
Haley Smith, So., G/F
On the preseason tournament
"We're really excited to be in the preseason WNIT. Starting out fast against teams we don't get to play that often like teams from the east coast. It's good for us to see what we need to work on. It puts us in a good place moving forward."
On her career high scoring 16 points
"I have to credit my teammates for finding me open. It seemed like every time I got the ball, it was a good opportunity to score. I was open with nobody on me so they were easy shots."
