On Getting Within Four Points and Not Being Able to Get Ahead
"We needed that extra stop. They came down, they called a time out, and they got an 'and one' at that point. Right now we're not handling adversity very well. If they make one play, we should come right back at them and make the next play. With that one play, they took the wind out of our sails again. Obviously that's not the way that we wanted this (game) to go. I didn't think we competed very well. You have to give Long Beach a lot of credit; they did a fantastic job. They hustled; they're all over the floor—that's who they are. Their players do a nice job of outworking you."
On Not Getting Into a Flow Offensively
"I thought we had some good looks, especially early. I thought we had some good looks late; we had some layups and wide open three's. But they do a nice job of keeping you off balance, and we could never really get into a flow."
On Missing Close Shots
"That was pretty significant of the whole game. We had three chip shots in there. (We were) not focused enough. Sometimes the ball doesn't bounce your way, but when that happens you have to find different ways to win; you have to get stops. I would have been okay winning 42 to 40. I think that was possible. I thought we could have done that if we would have been a little more solid on the defensive end."
On the Struggles of Scoring
"You have to make your own luck when things don't go the way that you want it to go. You can't be out hustled. You have to control the things that you can control. Sometimes you can't control whether you are making all of your shots. But you can get every loose basketball, you can be better on the defensive end, and you can communicate. You just have to be solid in different ways. And we missed an opportunity to do that."
On Kennedy Leonard's Ankle Injury
"She's alive. She sprained her ankle pretty bad, but was able to come back in. It was the one that she sprained in practice a couple weeks ago, right before the Kentucky game. Sprained ankles hurt a bit, and you have to credit her for coming back in and helping our team down the stretch."

On Struggling Offensively
"Tonight wasn't our night for shooting. When that happens we have to look to attack the rim. And even when we were attacking the rim, we were missing easy layups and put-backs. They out hustled us; we couldn't get many offensive rebounds. Right when we thought we got our foot in the door; they close it right back on us."
On Long Beach State's Disruptive Defense
"(Going against their defense) takes a lot of mental toughness. Unfortunately they got us rattled early. We could never find our own rhythm. We like to play just as fast, but under our tempo—whether we're attacking in transition or knowing when to pull back and set up in our primary offense. But the way that they were attacking us, their defense, it got us flustered. We couldn't really figure out a way to calm ourselves down when it mattered and knock down shots."
On Foul Trouble, Injuries and Substitutions
"It's definitely good to get other people in the game and put them in different positions. When we have post foul trouble, Haley is going to have to step up. Just like she's been doing–against CSU and in this game, filling in as the four. It makes us think on our feet. We have to be able to adjust in adverse situations. I think that's something we need to execute better. The different combinations are good, and it will help us prepare for later games. We will probably face this situation a few more times down the road. It's a long season, so getting everyone experienced and getting everyone to play together is helpful."
