Two Buff Golfers Named All-America Scholars

        BOULDER — Two members of the University of Colorado men's golf team were named Golf Coaches Association of America All-America Scholars, GCAA officials announced Wednesday.

        Juniors-to-be Justin Biwer and Jack Holland were both recognized for their accomplishments on and off the course for the 2022-23 collegiate golf season. It is the first honor for both players.

        To be eligible for GCAA All-America Scholar status an individual must be a sophomore, junior or senior academically and athletically, participate in 50 percent of his team's competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 76.0 in Division I and maintain a minimum of at least a 3.2 cumulative grade point average. Biwer is majoring in Business (Accounting and Finance) while Holland is studying Chemical Engineering.

        Biwer played in all 14 tournaments and was second on the team in stroke average this past year with a 71.0 figure, with his career norm of 70.96 over two seasons for 74 rounds. Holland played in 13 events with a 73.27 mark, fifth on the Buffs, while owning a 74.23 career average for 21 tournaments.

        The duo are two of 19 Buffaloes to be afforded the All-America Scholar honor since it was created in the late 1980s, with the group honored collectively a total of 32 times.

        "Huge congratulations go out to Jack and Justin for earning Academic All-Scholars from the GCAA," said CU head coach Roy Edwards. "It is the highest honor a college golfer can receive both athletically and academically and those two embody everything it means to be true student-athletes. Jack and Justin are tremendous assets to the University of Colorado."
