Colorado Women’s Basketball to Appear at Big 12 Media Day

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Colorado Buffaloes will join the rest of the Big 12 Conference for media day on Tuesday, Oct. 21, in Kansas City, Mo. 
 
The Buffs' representatives will be head coach JR Payne, senior forward Jade Masogayo and redshirt sophomore guard Kennedy Sanders. CU is participating in its second Big 12 Media Day following its return to the Conference.
 
Coverage on the main set will air on ESPNU and ESPN+ from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. MT. Matt Schick, Brooke Weisbrod, Anne O'Neil and Rachel Galligan will host the main set on Oct. 21. Commissioner Brett Yormark will speak at 11:10 a.m. MT Tuesday, preceded and followed by Q&A sessions with women's head coaches and student-athletes moderated by Missy Heidrick starting at 7:55 a.m. MT. A feed of all press conferences and interviews will be available on ESPN+.
 
Head Coach JR Payne is entering her 10th season at the helm of Colorado Women's Basketball. During her ninth season (2024-25), CU returned to the Big 12, finishing the season 21-13 and 9-9 against conference opponents. The Buffs recorded two ranked wins in the season over West Virginia and Kansas State. Payne and the Buffs made it to the Big 12 quarterfinal, defeating Houston and Arizona to make the tournament. After the conclusion of the regular season, graduate guard Frida Forman and Jade Masogayo were selected as Big 12 Honorable Mentions. Colorado also hosted the Women's Basketball Invitational Tournament, where it was ranked as the No. 1 seed and recorded a win against Southeastern Louisiana.
 
Senior forward Jade Masogayo is returning for her second year with Colorado Women's Basketball. Masogayo was announced as one of the 10 players on the 2025 Preseason All-Big 12 Women's Basketball team. Last season, Masogayo started and played in all 33 games for the Buffs, leading the team averaging 12.5 points per game, 4.8 rebounds per game and 1.4 assists per game. She ranked 12th in the NCAA for shooting percentage with .599 and scored double-digit points in 24 games. In the matchup between Colorado and No. 8 TCU, she recorded a career-high 22 points (Mar. 7). Against Kansas State, Masogayo tied the CU record for blocks in a quarter with three in the fourth quarter (Jan. 25).
 
The Colorado Buffaloes also welcome back redshirt-sophomore guard Kennedy Sanders. During the 2024-25 season, Sanders played in all 33 games for the Buffs. During the Big 12 Tournament, she contributed to the team immensely, averaging 9.7 points per game, 3.0 rebounds per game and 3.0 assists.
