
Stanojevic, Alexin Win ITA Regional Awards

Mila Stanojevic and Lera Alexin earned Leadership and Rookie of the Year Awards.
BOULDER – Mila Stanojevic and Lera Alexin received ITA Mountain Region Awards for their performance this season. Stanojevic also finished the season ranked in the region, along with Betina Tokac, Rixt van der Werff, and doubles duo Ema Bubalo and Anya Nelson, as the association announced this week.
Stanojevic was given the ITA Cissie Leary Sportsmanship Award, also finishing with a No. 4 ranking in the region this season. The winner of this award displays great commitment and energy while leading their team, which Stanojevic highlighted throughout her entire career. The senior secured 23 singles and 13 doubles victories, totaling an impressive 133 wins in her career. Stanojevic was also named to the All-Big 12 Second Team for singles, announced by the association in early May.
Alexin received ITA Rookie of the Year, giving the Buffs the award for the second year in a row, and the second time since 2018, with Pia Rebec receiving it last year. As a freshman, Alexin proved herself valuable in a starting position, as she stood solid in the No. 5 and 6 positions this season, acquiring seven dual victories and 14 altogether.
As a doubles team, Alexin and Stanojevic finished with nine wins this season, beginning the dual competition with a seven-straight winning streak.
Alongside Stanojevic, senior Tokac finished with a No. 16-ranked position in the region, along with junior van der Werff at No. 19. Additionally, Stanojevic and Tokac were two of the three active players who acquired 50 career singles wins each, for the sixth time in school history. The third being senior Aya El Sayed.
In doubles, pair Bubalo and Nelson finished at No. 3 in the Mountain Region, following a historic season for the duo. As a pair, they became the first Buffs in school history to become ITA Mountain Regional Champions, winning six-straight matches to secure the top spot. Throughout the season, they recorded a total of 19 wins, and a total of 30 in their career as a pair.
As a team, the Buffs finished at No. 7 in the region, totaling nine wins for the third year in a row. Colorado began the season with four straight victories and finished by winning a conference tournament game for the third time since 2010.
