CU's fourth week appearing in the weekly honors
IRVING, Texas – Make it four consecutive weeks that Colorado lacrosse has had at least one Big 12 Player of the Week winner as goalkeeper Elena Oh and defender Jess Peluso again took home weekly honors, the conference announced on Wednesday.
Oh, a sophomore from Chapel Hill, N.C., continued her hold on the Goalkeeper of the Week honor, taking her fourth consecutive. It is the second time in her young career she has won four straight Goalkeeper of the Week awards, doing so from Mar. 4-25 last season. In less than two seasons, Oh has earned eight career Big 12 Goalkeeper of the Week honors.
Oh made 20 saves in Colorado's two games against a pair of ranked opponents. She opened last week, matching her career-high with 12 stops against then-No. 18 Stony Brook. She capped off the week with eight more saves in the Buffaloes' 13-6 win at then-No. 22 Army. Oh posted a .571 save % and allowed just 7.50 goals per game. She ranks top 10 nationally with a .534 save % (7th) and a 6.59 goals-against average (5th).
Peluso, a senior from East Islip, N.Y., was named the Big 12's top defender for the third time in four weeks. She helped lead the Colorado defensive unit that held both opponents to single-digit scoring and has yet to allow more than 10 goals this season. Peluso caused six turnovers and controlled four ground balls in the two games.
The Buffs will take on their third consecutive ranked opponent in No. 8 Michigan on Sunday. First draw from Ann Arbor is set for 11 a.m. MT.
