Colorado Head Coach Gary Barnett

ON WINNING THE BIG 12 NORTH?“I feel good for our players and I feel good for our seniors. I’m really not going to deal with [Friday]. I’ve already done that. Our team has to look at this as a reprieve and a good opportunity to do something about what they have learned.

“This one wasn’t a tie; it was an outright win. There is only one trophy and there will be only one ring. None of us like the way we got it done, but we found a way. No we have to do something with it now that we have this opportunity. I’m looking forward to going into work tomorrow.

“As we go on into recruiting and go on down the road we will put [Friday] further behind us. We will hang on those things we did well and work on those things we didn’t do well. We still won more games than anyone else did in the North division. We won some good games here [at home] and we beat some good teams. Shoot, we’re in the game.

ON WHTEHER HE IS EAGER TO PLAY TEXAS?“I haven’t gotten to the eager stage yet; I’m still in the thankful stage at this point in time.

“Whoever plays Texas has got their hands full?and it’s us this week.”

ON PLAYING POORLY IN BIG GAMES?“We have to figure out why when we get to big games we don’t play well?that’s No. 1. Our key guys haven’t played well in big games and we have to get beyond that. Obviously, this game in Houston is the biggest game of the year. We have to have the mentality that we play well in big games.

ON MOVING ON AFTER THE LOSS TO NEBRASKA?I met with eight recruits this morning starting at 8:30. I was not looking forward to it, but it was the best thing for me. I could start looking forward and focusing on the next step. The last thing I said to my team last night is that ?you have to respond to the things that happen to you.’ For me, the simple example of me and the coaches waking up this morning and responding is the way life is. We don’t have time to mope about yesterday; we have to get to work.

ON LAST MEETING WITH TEXAS?“All I know is that they went 25-of-29 [passing] on us, we had a key turnover, our quarterback got hit a lot and in our opening series we had six mistakes.

ON SIMILARITIES TO 2001?“We had so much confidence going into that game in 2001. It was kind of a different deal. We have to find a way to regain our confidence going into this week.

Senior V-Back Lawrence Vickers

GENERAL? “As far as emotions, I still feel the same as yesterday. Being a senior and losing your last game at home, the feeling doesn’t just go away like that. The main thing is that we have a chance to redeem ourselves. This is a homecoming for me being from Houston. This is a blessing. A lot of teams would love to be playing in the Big 12 Championship right now. We have the chance to do that so we’re thankful.”

“We just have to get everybody on the same page?105 people. As a captain, it’s not hard?it will just take a lot of detailed things. A lot of people are excited about this opportunity in front of us, so you try to use that as momentum. It’s all about stepping stones. You put your self in certain positions, and it just so happens that we put ourselves in a bad position that came out good in the end. I always say things happen for a reason, so there a reason we re playing [in the Big 12 Championship game].

“Anytime I’m out on the field I’m always ready to play no matter who that is. That’s just the way I am. The main thing is getting the whole team to feel that way. I’ll go home and start to prepare tonight. I’ll probably call a team meeting tomorrow to bring everybody in and let them know what is in front of us?break it all down for them and let them know what is on the line.

If you make it hard it’s going to be hard. As a captain, I’m supposed to make the hard things look easy.”

ON WHETHER HE FEELS GOOD ABOUT THE WAY CU WON THE NORTH?Nobody wants to sit back and wait for another team to win to get in. We just have to take advantage of this opportunity we have.”

“I don’t feel sorry for [Iowa State] for not winning. Not at all. Thank you Kansas.”

Redshirt Freshman Wide Receiver Reggie Joseph

"We have to be a family, not just a team. If you want to be 'shoulder to shoulder' and have 'one heartbeat'--if you say those things and don't believe them, it's impossible to bounce back. No one individual can bounce back mentally and win a game for a team--it's the whole team. So as a family, I think we have the chemistry to bounce back. And given the second opportunity to, I think we will."
