Colorado Head Coach Mike MacIntyre
General“First of all, what a gorgeous day in Boulder. I don’t think you can paint a prettier picture of a Saturday afternoon than that. I was really proud of our guys. I knew Gary’s [Anderson] team would come out tough and hard. He’s a really good football coach, hard-nosed tough guy. I really admire him as a person, too. I was pleased with the way our guys fought and battled. How about our defense not giving up a touchdown? That’s pretty amazing. The offense played real well and Shay Fields made some big plays today. I was excited about what they did. It’s just two games, we have got a lot more to go. I think we’re headed in the right direction.”
On What The Win Means
“I think it proves we’re legitimate and we can do it. Everybody kept telling me all week, ‘Are they going to have a letdown?’ Like I said since day one, we’re a good football team. Every week we’ve gotten better. We’ve got to keep doing that. We have seven really good teams to play and a lot of hard venues and a lot of great games. Our guys have got to work and get ready for the next one, USC.”
On Starting Pac-12 Season 2-0
“It’s the first time it’s ever been done. Two wins, 2-0, that’s what it means. We expect a lot more and so do those young men.”
On Team Getting Over The Hump
“We’ve got to keep playing games. Every team that’s left to play can beat us, and we can beat every team left. We have to come and play Colorado football, that’s what I tell them all the time. Play Colorado football; that means take care of yourself. Then, you go out there and play and see what happens. There’s a lot of great football teams in our league.”
On Having Largest Attendance Since He Became Coach
“I’m so happy for those players, those young men. They’re doing it. We’ve got to keep putting it back-to-back-to-back, because I want it to be standing-room only. Everybody laughed at me at the bar-b-que when I said, ‘You better buy your tickets now.’ I think everybody said, ‘He’s a cocky sucker.’ I believed it and I meant it and I see it. We’ve got to keep doing it. I think everybody’s starting to see a glimpse of it. We’ve only won two and we’ve got to get a bunch more.”
On Putting Oregon State Away
“We’re a good football team. That’s the good thing, we don’t have any kids anymore; we’ve got some men. They listen, they come prepared to practice, they ask questions, they come over after class, they do more studying, they’re involved. They say all the time, ‘Players make plays, players win games.’ They’re understanding that now. They’re taking their coaching. We don’t have guys late for things. They’re getting more professional. As you mature, that’s what happens. The less teenagers you have playing the better off you are.”
On Steven Montez’s Play
“I’m very impressed. He can just make plays. He’s a magician at times. He did some really good things. When he watches the film, he’ll see that there’s a few things he definitely missed. Even on the one touchdown pass he really threw it too late. He’ll learn from a lot of that. Our offensive line is protecting well in all our games. Overall, they’ve really played well. That’s given our whole offense confidence. I tell them all the time, if the big guys up front do what they’re supposed to, then our great skill will make plays. That’s what you’re seeing happen, and the same way on defense. Our up-front is playing well controlling things, and now the skill on the backend is making plays. That’s the key.”
On Who Will Play QB At USC
“We’ll see how this week goes.”
On Montez’s Second Touchdown Pass
“I was like, ‘That’s going to get picked,’ but his arm was so strong he overthrew the guy. He’s kind of like the three-point shooter. He made all the plays. We’re being picky. We’re talking about a redshirt freshman who’s played two games. He’ll be mad at himself about it. He’ll figure it out.”
On Davis Price’s 54-Yard Field Goal
“That was phenomenal. I was going back and forth. I was thinking, ‘This is the first field goal this kid’s ever kicked,’ and I’m sending him out for a 54-yard field goal. As I’m standing out there, the wind started breezing by me. When he’s out there kicking, ‘I’m going should I have let him kick it or should I have gone for it.’ Then, he made it and I said, ‘Smart move by me.’ That was a heck of a kick by Davis, I was really happy for him. He kicked off well today too. He has a powerful leg.”
On Defense Forcing Turnovers
“The one before the half basically pretty much closed the door. That was big. They had run the play a little bit before and they made some yards on it. Rick [Gamboa] reads those things. Two years ago when we were playing CSU, they were hurting us on the screen and then the second time they ran that screen, Rick hit the guy and the ball popped in the air and we scored. Rick just sees things. He knew it was coming and made a great read on it. It was a really good play.”
On The Running Game Opening Up The Offense
“The running game is really important for us to set up, because it allows us to do some of our play-action passes and get stuff over the middle. Once we get them running, we go so fast that they get tired, then all of a sudden they bust a coverage. When we got running, the safety had to come up and support, so the next time we ran it, he was on his own and Shay [Fields] went right by him.”
On Offense Going At A Fast Pace
“We wanted to go hyper-speed today. We wanted to go hyper-speed when we could and we practiced that hard. We felt like the altitude would really help us today against them.”
On Offense’s Big Plays
“Shay can run. When your line protects and gives you time to make a double-move that’s good. The screen-pass was just a great block by Devin Ross. We work on that so much, our blocking. There was a lot of excellent perimeter blocking again today. I think we’ve done really well at that and that’s key for us. The quarterbacks are throwing the ball where the guys are catching it with his shoulders turned up field and now they’re able to hit it and run.”
On Team Looking Forward
“The Pac-12 Conference is what these young men wanted to play in; the Pac-12 Conference is, for our coaches, the level they wanted to coach at. We want to play the best and we want to be able to beat the best. They’ll be ready to play, I guarantee you. They’ve tasted it now and it tastes sweet and I know they want to keep tasting it. They’ll keep moving in the right direction. What they’ve been through has fortified them as a group of men. It’s also given them an unbelievable depth in character as far as understanding, ‘Never say die, never give up.’ I used to tell them all the time when I was first recruiting this group of seniors and redshirt juniors, ‘Come on with me, but we’re getting in a rollercoaster. You’re getting in the roller coaster at the bottom. When you say you’re going to come, I’m going to lock it on you quick so you can’t get out. I want you to lock in and I want you to stay with me.’ They’ve stayed with me. They’re tasting it, so we’re going to ride that rollercoaster.”
Oregon State Head Coach Gary Anderson
General“Obviously, Colorado was the far superior team today, from top to bottom, coaches all the way through. That’s really all I have to say. We got thoroughly beat today, from the first snap all the way through. It’s not just one spot, one position, offense, defense, and we didn’t hold up our end to change the game on special teams. That’s where we sit.”
On Giving Up Three Long Touchdowns in First Half
“Three long touchdown passes are obviously hard to swallow and hard to deal with. I reiterate, in this league you’re going to have to go back and forth, there’s going to be punches and counter punches. Early we had two or three opportunities to throw some nice counter punches and we didn’t give ourselves the chance to connect the dots. The way (Colorado) is playing right now, you have to be able to do that. Defense became very difficult as we lost some young men, that’s not an excuse at all, but it becomes very difficult when a team like that can peg in on who your personnel is and how you can play.”
On What Happened On Long Touchdowns
“All day long I thought the quarterback had an opportunity to get out and extend some plays. The first one was a deep, deep over route, there was a guy assigned there but it’s going to be two on one on the backside and they do a nice job of getting that stuff going. If that play can be there for that amount of time, you don't have enough people in the defensive backfield than they have on the offensive side of the football. They made three plays over the top. That’s not the football game. To me, defensively, the football game was their ability to run the football consistently; consistently to the edge of the defense, it kept rearing its ugly head time and time again. If I had an answer for it I’d have given it to Coach (DC Kevin) Clune. Not a lot of answers.”
On Colorado’s Rise, Model for Rebuild
“I hope our kids can see it, they’ve competed against these people more than I have. For myself, I’ve been in this position. Coach Mac has battled his tail off, in this profession you see what he’s gone through the past few years and they’ve done a nice job. That dude should be the coach here for a long, long time. Better strap him up to a big ol’ contract, because he’s a damn good football coach.”
On Quarterback Change
“There’s always back and forths and second guessing in all of those scenarios. Right now, we have two quarterbacks. It goes back to the offense. It’s not Darell(Garretson), it’s not Conor(Blount), it’s the offense giving us an opportunity to be able to compete and play. I felt in this game it was important to continually go with Conor, let him get his feet wet and play and get some reps under him. What’s this game going to do for Darell, especially in the third and fourth quarter? Not much, but it will (do a lot) for a young quarterback. We’ll go back, we’ll evaluate it and see where we sit. I thought we had some opportunities but our quarterbacks were running for their lives, and that’s very difficult. When you’re back there running for your life, you’re not going to be comfortable. Put all the blame on me. That’s what I told the kids, I have think skin, I’m a grown man, I can deal with it. We’ll see (who will start moving forward).”
On Enduring a Rebuild Similar to Colorado
“That’s a grind, we’ve talked about that. It’s very, very difficult to catch teams in this league. It took them a long time to get to that point, and I’m willing to go through it for these kids. I will battle for these kids until they won’t have me anymore, I promise you that much. That’s the whole reason why I am where I am. I hear all the stuff, some fans have some pretty good jokes. I love where I’m at. This is a great league and you have to be able to battle. All I tell them is to get up and keep fighting, and don’t let the negativity in, in any way, shape or form. You have to move forward and just keep on fighting.”
On Colorado’s Defense
“In my opinion, these are the best corners we’ve played by far. I said that during the week. They have three corners that are special young men, and they may go even deeper than that after I sit back and watch the film. We got disrupted, they played a lot of man coverage, we had a hard time getting off those man routes, they made some bold plays down the field, and I think they gained confidence as the game went on. We had a couple opportunities early to hit some deep balls and we couldn’t get our hands on them. It’s a talented back end, you look at those kids they’re all 6-2, 6-3, they run well, they’re tough minded kids that play the game the right way, they have a lot of reps underneath them, and they’re thick-skinned. Those are tough dudes out there now, they’ve been through a lot.”
On Whether or Not Colorado is a Top-25 Team
“From what I saw, yeah. Why not put them in the top 25? I don’t have a vote but they’re a really good football team.”
Colorado Players
FS Ryan Moeller
ON WHAT HIS POSITION ENTAILS - “I’m setting an edge. I would say I’m doing what the team needs me to do. There’s a lot that goes into our defense, there’s a lot that goes into that position. With how things have been shaping up with injuries, even with myself, we found a spot for me to handle that position and get something out there for our defense to get the job done.”ON THE TEAM’S MENTALITY - “I think you can see it in our play and the way we talk to people and the way we feel. We carry ourselves differently. I wouldn’t say that any one of us is getting a big head by any means. I think everyone is very level headed and ready to take it to the next step. Today’s over now so let’s go on to next week, we have USC to get ready for.”
ON STAYING LEVEL HEADED - “I don’t think it’s any more challenging to be level headed than it would be to let our egos go. I think the hard part is battening down in preparation. Each week brings a new set of skill and things you have to take care of. It’s great winning and it really sucks losing, but it’s just moving forward.”
ON THE SECONDARY - “We are hustling, making plays. I think that can be said for any position honestly, but for the DBs, I think the focus has been the little things. The technique when we’re tired and that stuff. When that’s tough on you then you start slacking.”
SS Tedric Thompson
ON THE FEELING OF WINNING - “The wins give us a lot of confidence. Being able to get these wins right now is good, but we have to keep on the road. We can’t get too high or too low on ourselves. We just have to keep our faith in God, keep our faith in each other, keep our faith in the coaches and we’ll be fine.”ON STAYING LEVEL HEADED - “It could be hard, but if we keep pushing each other and keep our faith in each other [we’ll be fine]. We don’t listen to outsiders of our football team. We stick to a brotherhood. We keep pushing each other. Games are going to get tougher and tougher, but as we push each other we’ll be fine.”
ON THE SECONDARY’S GAME PLAN - “It was to harass the quarterback and you have to give a lot of credit to our D-Line. Every time he stepped back the line was in his face. It makes the linebackers and DBs jobs easier because there was so much more pressure up there.”
ON HIS INTERCEPTION - “We work that route a lot in practice, but I can’t even really take credit for it because once again, our D-Line put that pressure on. Coach Clark told me my freshman year that you usually get your interceptions from a tip or a bad throw by the quarterback. It was a bad throw because we had that pressure and all I had to do was catch it.”
ON BECOMING CU’S 22TH PLAYER OF ALL TIME TO TALLY EIGHT INTERCEPTIONS - “It’s crazy. If you keep your faith in God then anything is possible. If you go back even to my sophomore year every one of my interceptions was because of the D-Line. That’s the honest truth. It was either the D-Line or a tip. It’s just a team effort really. I don’t just get that stat. It’s the whole team.”
CB Ahkello Witherspoon
ON THE SECONDARY’S PERFORMANCE - “I think we did a great job throughout the entire game. We came in being functionally consistent and we kept it that way. Their number six [Victor Bolden Jr., WR] is an explosive player. I had to focus on him. Just playing our coverage in space; Coach Leavitt puts us in position to play man-to-man a lot and we have to come out every week ready to play.”ON CONTINUING TO WIN - “I guess you could say it gets challenging because you can see that ultimate goal that you want to reach. So that gets a little more challenging. In terms of week-to-week, there’s only one way to play this game. If you look forward to a game three weeks away, you’re not going to be successful that week. We really believe in Coach MacIntyre’s motto of going 1-0 every week so that’s what we’re doing.”
C Alex Kelley
ON WHETHER THIS WAS THE MOST COMPLETE GAME HE HAS BEEN A PART OF AT HOME- “Yeah, I would say so. Oregon State is a Pac-12 team and they play football. For us to finally get a win like that at home is a good thing.”ON THE DIFFERENCE IN STEVEN MONTEZ OVER THE LAST TWO WEEKS- “The biggest thing is practicing day in and day out. For him to be thrown into the fire like that, getting second team reps, and all of a sudden you’re up against No. 4 Michigan. It’s a pretty hard thing to do. But there’s two weeks of practice, two weeks of working with the starters, two weeks of working with the offensive line, it really instills confidence in you.”
ON WHAT IT DOES FOR THE TEAM TO HAVE TWO QUARTERBACKS PLAYING AT A HIGH LEVEL- “I’m excited. I’m excited for Sefo to get back but we are just going to keep this trend going no matter what.”
ON IF THE OFFENSIVE LINE HAS THEIR OWN CREW NAME SUCH AS THE RECEIVERS- It’s a work in progress. It started out as a joke but we’ll see what happens.”
ON IF IT’S A CHALLENGE TO KEEPING A LEVEL HEAD AS THE TEAM GETS MORE VICTORIES- “Absolutely. We almost packed this place out at a 12:30 p.m. game. It’s never happened before. The main thing is not letting it get to your head and realizing that every week is a new week. No matter who you’re playing, you just have to keep grinding.”
RB Kyle Evans
ON THE OFFENSIVE GAME PLAN– “Every game we are trying to start fast, and finish strong. That’s our motto. Today, we started fast. First series, we didn’t do as much. Second series, we came back and scored. Every single play, every single series, we are trying to start fast. We think we are faster than every single team. So we are working on that every single week and getting better and that’s what we did today.”ON THE SECOND SERIES THAT HE CARRIED THE BALL SIX STRAIGHT TIMES- “I’m always ready. That’s how you have to be. I didn’t know they were going to give me the ball six straight times but I was ready for it. Luckily we threw it up top and scored to Shay(Fields) so it worked out.”
ON HOW STEVEN MONTEZ HAS BEEN ABLE TO GET THE JOB DONE THE LAST TWO WEEKS- “Steven has been working hard way before he was starting in games. It’s also credit to all of his off the field work. Working with Sefo in the film room, throwing extra balls to receivers, whatever it was, he was out there doing it. I’ve never been surprised at what he could accomplish. Today, he just had another big game. He has a great arm and he’s just throwing the ball.”
ON THE LUXURY OF HAVING TWO QUARTERBACKS THAT CAN GET THE JOB DONE- “It’s great because it brings up the competition. Sefo is getting better of course and Montez is playing well so we’ll see what happens. We are just prepared for anything that can happen. We believe both quarterbacks can get the job done.”
ON THE CHALLENGE OF KEEPING A LEVEL HEAD AS THE WINS PILE UP- “We always try to keep a chip on our shoulder. We never get too big-headed about anything. We keep working. How we prepared for Oregon State is the same way we prepared for Oregon, the same way we prepared for Idaho State and Colorado State. Next week we play USC and we are going to prepare the same way. It’s about getting ourselves better. It really doesn’t matter about the decal on the other team’s helmet. It’s more about us. We are just trying to get ourselves better each and every week.”
LB Rick Gamboa
ON HIS INTERCEPTION RETURN FOR TOUCHDOWN- “It’s funny. I helped Kenneth Olugbode get his pick-six last year, and this year he helped me get mine. The quarter was almost ending and we figured they would try to do something so Olugbode and I had a sense they might try to go for a screen. He jumped it, hit him, ball popped out, and I caught it. As soon as I caught it, I knew I had to score. I knew I would get the same response from Olugbode just like last year’s play.”ON IF HE SCORED A DEFENSIVE TOUCHDOWN IN HIGH SCHOOL- “Yeah, I scored my senior year. It was almost the same type of play.”
ON WHAT THE DEFENSE WAS LOOKING TO SHUT DOWN FOR OREGON STATE- “The defensive game plan was to stay off the field and get the ball to the offense so they can put up points. And we knew we had to stop the run game. They have very good running backs and we knew we had to shut them down. If not, it was going to be a long day for us. Fortunately for us, we did.”
ON WHO TO TRIBUTE THE SUCCESS OF THE DEFENESE SO FAR THIS YEAR- “I would say our guys up front. Without them, we wouldn’t be able to do what we do. They are doing a great job and making plays on the line so we give the credit to them.”
ON IF IT’S CHALLENGE OF KEEPING A LEVEL HEAD AS THE WINS RACK UP- “Not really. After we win a game, we enjoy it for that day. As soon as that day is over, we’ve got to move on. It’s a whole new week so we’ve got to get ready for the next game. In the Pac-12 you can lose to anyone. Every single team in the Pac-12 is good.”
ON THE MINDSET GOING INTO EVERY GAME- “We don’t want to let teams score on us. At the end of the day, the points matter. So if teams get yards but they are not scoring, we’ll take that as a win.”
QB Steven Montez
ON CHEMISTRY BETWEEN HE AND SHAY FIELDS - “It’s awesome. I just give him a decent ball and he goes out and makes amazing plays, all of our receivers do. He got loose on a five-yard fish route; easy throw for me and he just turned it into a highlight reel play.”ON DEEP THROW TO SHAY FIELDS - “I was just kind of waiting. I didn’t know if that safety was there or not and we have so much time with the protection. The offensive line did a phenomenal l job today. So I just kind of waited and waited and made sure he was open and then threw it.”
ON CONTINUING TO PLAY WELL - “I mean you can always play better. You can always get better at something and that’s what we are going to go in and do Monday. Correct the mistakes that we made, so it’ll keep going up from here.”
ON RUNNING THE BALL - “I think the run, this game, definitely opened up the pass. We came out and started a little shaky with three incompletions. But then came out with a different mindset that we were going to go score.”
ON WINNING BACK TO BACK PAC-12 GAMES - “I think that is big and good, but I think we still have a long way to go. If we win these first two games and then lose the rest, it’s not going to matter. So I feel like we still have a lot of work to do. I feel like we have a lot of big things to accomplish still.”
ON HIS CONFIDENCE - “Just the desire to be the best. I just go out there and work every practice and I just try to make my family happy, El Paso proud and just go out there and play my game.”
ON WHEN HE KNEW HE WOULD START - “Towards the middle of the week they still weren’t sure about Sefo’s condition and so they gave him time to rest and heal up and gave me the go ahead. That’s how that happened.”
WR Shay Fields
ON WHAT THE OFFENSE SAW ON BIG PLAYS - “After the first drive we saw some things that we could take advantage of. I talked to Coach Chiaverini, Coach Lindgren and we called some plays that worked.”ON THE TURN AROUND THIS SEASON - “We had two losing seasons my freshman and sophomore year but this junior year is just turned around; it’s amazing right now. 4-1 and we still have some great things to do in the future but I am going to cherish the moment right now.”
ON STARTING GAMES FAST- “The tempo. The tempo that we practice is nothing that you can practice against our coaches say. We started off a little slow but once we got going, it really hard to stop the tempo, especially in altitude.”
ON TODAY’S CROWD - “I mean it’s always fun to play in a packed stadium. That’s just what you want as a team; the fans behind you and support. It just gives you extra energy when we go out and play.”
ON STEVEN MONTEZ - “Just him staying level headed. Especially after last week’s game, he probably broke two records or somewhat. We told him to not get complacent and he didn’t do that. He came out and balled out today. His poise and energy that he brings to the table is overwhelming to me.”
PK Davis Price
ON HITTING THE 54 YARD FIELD GOAL - “It was an incredible feeling. It was great to know that all of my hard work paid off. My dad went here and all of my friends go here and being able to play in front of them in a big school like this is something I’ve never experienced before. I loved it. I was concentrating on trusting my technique and staying on my line. I knew the snap from JT [Bale] was going to be on point and I knew Robert [Orban] was going to get the hold down so I just needed to trust my technique. It’s just getting out there and trusting my technique and knowing that as long as other people do their jobs then I can do my job. It keeps my confidence up making kicks.”
ON HOW HE GOT THE STARTING POSITION - “I got a text after the Michigan game, I wasn’t even travelling. The text said to be ready to compete the next week. I’ve been going through camps all through high school and it feels like the last two years has just been me competing. I showed up and stayed with my technique and trusted my leg. I came ready to compete every day.”
ON HIS RANGE - “I hit a 67 yarder in practice but today is my longest in a game.”
DL Jimmie Gilbert
ON HIS PERFORMANCE - “Today was by far my best game. I was able to do things that for the past three years I wasn’t able to do. I’ve been with Coach McKenzie who’s now with Stanford, he really taught us a lot of stuff about pass rushing that we really didn’t learn in the past. Jim Jeffcoat has also done a really good job of teaching us different techniques and moves becaue he was one of the best pass rushers in Dallas Cowboy history. Having those two with us last year really allowed us to progress and get farther this year.”ON NEUTRALIZING OSU’S VICTOR BOLDEN - “That’s all inside guys. The front three did a fantastic job. Penetration, stopping the run, staying stout. Then you have Kenneth Olugbode and Rick Gamboa and Addison Gillam flying around making plays. That’s really what we do, what we’re trying to do. When that happens, the game runs smoothly for us.”
ON WEEK’S PREPARTION – “It was a point of emphasis all week, pass rush. They have a very dynamic quarterback who can kill you in the pocket. He’s got some good feet. We really emphasized getting off the ball, that’s the most important thing always. From that point, it’s all ‘want to.’ Thanks to our fantastic coverage in the secondary, they gave the front four and five a great time to get to the quarterback and make some plays.”
ON HOW FAR THIS TEAM HAS COME - “For us, we really try not to worry about the past too much. What’s done in the past can’t really help us right now. You can study film and learn from it but at the same time, we have to go out there and make the plays, we have to make the correct calls. One thing that we always try to emphasize is one game at a time. It’s a one game season every week. With that mentality, every game is the most important game we have. No matter what the margin is or who the opponent is.”
ON KEEPING OSU OUT OF THE END ZONE - “One, we don’t have gassers tomorrow. When teams get in the end zone because of your own coverage, missed tackles, not filling the gaps right. By keeping them out, it lets us know that we did what we were supposed to. It’s the defense’s job to keep the offense out of the end zone and so by doing that, that means we just did our jobs.”
ON STEVEN MONTEZ’S PERFORMANCE – “He has confidence and poise and Sefo talks to him and keeps his head in the game. He has confidence in his O-Line. He’s not worried about getting sacked, getting hit. He has confidence that they’re going to do their job and block. As you saw today he had plenty of time in the pocket. When your quarterback has plenty of time in the pocket, it really keeps him calm and allows him to process everything quickly.”
ON THE TEAM’S GROWTH - “I came here because I believed we could do this within the time I was here. That’s what we’re doing. Coach MacIntyre came here because he believed it as well. Everyone who is here and has stayed has had that same vision. As a team and a unit, we’re not surprised because we’ve busted our butts from day one. Now we’re just getting where we should be. We have a long way to go so we’re not where we want to be at all yet but the great strides that we’ve made have been phenomenal.”
Oregon State Players
S Devin Chappell
THOUGHTS ON THE GAME – “I don’t think that we came ready to play, I mean it’s obvious from the score. It is probably obvious from the numbers not having looked at them. They came out and beat us and that’s on us. We’ve got to come ready and be more prepared.”THOUGHTS ON WHY THEY WERE NOT READY- “I couldn’t tell you. At some point it has to break, it has got to give; we just have to dig down deep and give more effort. I have to see the film but we just have to play better.”
THOUGTS ON COACHING- “The coaches are doing everything and putting us in the right spots, we just have to execute. As players we have to make the plays and we have to win the games. The coaches can only do so much. It’s on us as players and we have to be better.”
ON BREAKDOWNS OF LONG PASS PLAYS- “The first one was on me. That was my guy. They were doing run pass options, I bit on the run fake and they double moved me. Slant go and he got over the top of me, it was a good play from Colorado. I just have to make the play and be more disciplined.”
ON COLORADO RECIEVERS- “Personally, I believe it was on us. No offense to Colorado, I think that they are a great team and their receivers are good. But I think that our coaches called the right plays, we just have to make the plays. Hats off to Colorado, they played a great game and made some really good plays.”
ON THE IDEA OF DEFENSE LOOKING DEFLATED- “I don’t think that we should ever be deflated. Maybe it might have looked like that but like I said Colorado is a good team; they out executed us today.”
OL Sean Harlow
ON COLORADO’S DEFENSE – “Obviously we don’t know what it was because we have to look at the film and see what they did that stopped us. I don’t think it was a physical thing at all. It was more or less just irresponsible plays.”ON OSU’S QUARTERBACK – “Obviously, the quarterback getting banged up is never a good thing. It looks bad on us. A lot of that falls on me personally, making rusty mistakes I guess. That’s how I’ll classify it. Our job is to take care of the quarterback, take care of the ball carrier, and take care of the ball, and we failed at that. That’s very personal.”
RB Artavis Pierce
ON PLAYING TIME – “It felt pretty good, I was just waiting for my number to be called. When I got in, I did the best I can just to help out the team.”ON THE 47 – 6 FINAL SCORE – “I just don’t look at it. I just stay focused on the game. Don’t let the scoreboard kill us, just keep our mind focused.”
