Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972Â ("Title IX")Â is a federal law that guarantees all students and employees are treated equally with regard to educational programs, activities, and opportunities. Equality in athletics is measured in three areas: participation, scholarships, and other benefits. This law also covers campus harassment and violence. Under Title IX, CU has an obligation to provide sexual assault education, foster a non-threatening environment, and take specific measures when reporting and addressing an incident that may occur.Â
The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act ("Clery Act") is a federal statute that requires universities like ours to maintain and disclose campus crime statistics and security information.
Complying with both of these federal laws is a collaborative, campus-wide effort. This page is intended to provide important information and resources regarding Title IX and the Clery Act at CU Boulder. If you have questions, please contact the CU Boulder Office of Institutional Equity and Compliance, specifically Associate Vice Chancellor & Title IX Coordinator Llen Pomeroy at llen.pomeroy@colorado.edu or 303-492-2127.
