FIRST CAREER ACTION: QB Blake Stenstrom, CB Tarik Luckett (Luckett is the 14th true freshman to see action for CU in 2019).
- The 14 true scholarship freshman are the second-most to see action in a season dating back to 1984; 15 saw action in 2011, while 13 did in 2012.
INDIVIDUAL LINER NOTES
TB Alex Fontenot (11-105 rushing, 2-5 receiving; 0 TD)
—It was his second 100-yard rushing day of his career (had 125 against CSU in the opener).
—He had four carries of 10+ yards (18 on the season; two were 20+, 6 on the year); and now had 568 yards this year on 114 carries, or 5.0 per.
—He moved from 96th into 81st on CU’s all-time rushing list (611 yards).
WR Laviska Shenault (4-46, 3 FDE receiving; 3-16, 1 TD, 2 FDE rushing; 62 all-purpose yards)
—His held his positions all-time at CU in receptions (118, 13th) and receiving yards (1,521), but moving closer to cracking the top 10 in both.
—He now has 1,831 all-purpose yards and 1,722 yards from scrimmage in his career, inching up to the 2,000 yard plateau in both.
—He had seven touches and five first downs tonight, giving him 23 first downs for the season (and 87 on 149 touches in his career).
S/OLB Davion Taylor (10,1—11 TT, 2 TFLs)
—This would be his first double-digit tackle game of the season, but inside the above numbers are also three tackles for zero gains (so five tackles at or behind the line of scrimmage) and two third downs stops. (Unofficial; CU uses coaches’ video totals so stats could change.)
QB Steven Montez (30-16-2, 129, 0 TD, 76.1 QBR passing; 3-(-9) rushing; 120 yards total offense).
—He is 15-19 as CU’s starting quarterback; his 34 starts are now tied for fourth-most in CU history; his 31 consecutive regular season tie Gale Weidner (31, 1959-61) for the most in CU history;
—He now has 8,564 passing yards, trailing only Sefo Liufau (9,568, 2013-16); with 718 completions, he is second only to Liufau’s 870;
—This is just the second time in those 34 starts that he did not have a TD pass in back-to-back games (Washington State, Utah last year); thus he remains third at CU with 56 career TD passes (trailing 60 by both Liufau and Cody Hawkins). He’s never gone three straight without one.
—He now has 9,406 yards of total offense (Liufau: 10,509).
WR K.D. Nixon (3-38, 1 FDE receiving)
—He now has 993 career receiving yards, poised to become the 31st Buff to reach 1,000 (he moved up from 35th tonight, passing TB Phillip Lindsay (976) into the 31st spot among others.
CB Derrion Rakestraw made his second interception of the season and the third of his career.
ILB Nate Landman (5,2—7 TT, 2 QBH, 1 PBU) had two third down stops and a fourth down stop, giving him a team-high nine for the season (seven third, two fourth for a total of 9).
