Utah narrows Colorado’s lead in the series to 33-27 and improved its record over the Buffaloes in Salt Lake City to 19-10.
Colorado drops to 2-4 this season in games decided by five points or less; 4-6 in games decided by 10 points or less.
Colorado fell to 14-5 this season when outrebounding its opponent.
Utah had a 21-7 advantage in fast break points and an 18-0 advantage in bench scoring (CU played only seven). Colorado had a 16-4 advantage in second chance points.
The Buffaloes had 15 offensive rebounds, their most against a Pac-12 school this season. It was the most vs. a league opponent since grabbing 15 at Oregon State on Jan. 28, 2023. The Buffaloes have lost their last six Pac-12 games when grabbing at least 15 offensive boards. The last win was three years ago at Utah, a 65-58 win on Jan. 11, 2021 (also 15 in that game).
KJ Simpson (25 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals) recorded his 13th 20-point game of the season and 20th of his career. Jumped from 33rd to tied for 29th in career scoring, now with 1,125 points, passing Jim Davis (1,110 from 1961-64), Tyler Bey (1,113 from 2017-20), Spencer Dinwiddie (1,115 from 2011-14). He’s now tied with Burdette Haldorson (1952-55). Just missed a double-double with nine rebounds, one off his season-high, now averaging 8.0 rebounds over the past four games. Tied his season-highs in field goals made (10) and attempted (22) and 3-point attempts (8). Had two steals, now tied with Nate Tomlinson (2008-12) for 17th in career steals with 111.
Eddie Lampkin Jr. (11 points, 10 rebounds) recorded his team-best seventh double-double in a Colorado uniform and 13th overall (six at TCU). It was his ninth double-figure rebounding game of the season and he led the Buffaloes in rebounding for the 14th time. He had eight turnovers which tied a team season high.
Tristan da Silva (10 points, 7 rebounds) became the 25th player in team history to surpass 1,200 career points (now with 1,202).
