Andre Gurode joined the Colorado staff in February 2025 as assistant offensive line coach.
Gurode returned to Boulder after an accomplished NFL career and professional coaching experience, bringing elite-level playing credentials and technical expertise to the Buffaloes’ offensive line room.
A former consensus All-American at Colorado, Gurode was a four-year starter from 1998–2001, earning first-team All-Big 12 honors in 2000 and 2001. As a senior, he was recognized as a consensus first-team All-American after allowing just 7.5 sacks across 2,653 career snaps. He was also the recipient of the John Mack Award as Colorado’s most outstanding offensive player. In 2023, he was inducted into the CU Athletic Hall of Fame.
Gurode was selected in the second round (37th overall) of the 2002 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys and went on to play 12 professional seasons in the NFL. Over his career, he appeared in 161 games with 131 starts and was selected to five consecutive Pro Bowls (2006–2010). He was named First-Team All-Pro in 2007 and Second-Team All-Pro in 2009. During his tenure in
Dallas, he became one of the league’s most respected centers and was part of an offensive line that helped Emmitt Smith break the NFL’s all-time rushing record.
Following his time with the Cowboys, Gurode played one season each with the Baltimore Ravens, Chicago Bears and Oakland Raiders before transitioning into coaching.
Prior to joining Colorado, Gurode served as offensive line coach for the Houston Roughnecks (2023) and the San Antonio Brahmas (2024) in the XFL/UFL. He also worked with the Dallas Cowboys as a defensive assistant in 2019.
In his role at Colorado, Gurode assists with offensive line development, bringing a wealth of experience in pass protection, run blocking and professional preparation.
A native of Houston, Texas, Gurode attended North Shore High School before starring at Colorado. He earned his degree in ethnic studies while at CU.
