Kimbirly Orr was named executive director of the Alumni C Club, the University of Colorado’s letterwinners, in July 2019.
Orr joined the Colorado Athletics staff from Knock Out Performance, a marketing communications agency she formed in 2012. She is also involved with Buffs4Life, an alumni athlete 501 (c) (3) Foundation that coordinates events and raises money for Alumni Athletes in need.
Orr’s career history has been predicated on the business of relationships. After graduating from CU Boulder’s Business School with a degree in marketing, she held two award-winning Fortune 500 stints with Colgate-Palmolive and A.C. Nielsen. She spent 17 years in the entertainment industry, working in event production and public relations, including two entrepreneurial ventures. Notably, she served as the first female sports agent for the Women’s Professional Volleyball Association (WPVA), a team that brought beach volleyball to the Olympics.
Orr has served the University of Colorado for four decades, working predominantly in alumni relations and engagement. She currently sits on the CU Foundation Trustee Board. She was named the CU Advocate of the Year in 2016.
She was born in Warren, Ohio, and graduated from Pomona High School (Arvada, Colo.), where she participated in volleyball and track and field; she was also captain of the pom-pom team her senior year. Her hobbies include attending and watching sporting events, hiking, dancing, reading, spending time with family and friends in addition to attending live concerts, in particular those performed by Dave Matthews and U2 (she’s been to over 50 all over the world, including Dublin, and attended their first-ever show in Colorado at Red Rocks and the next night at the CU Events Center).
While her work life does not allow her to have a dog, she spends most of her free time dog-sitting for friends and family, walking, and enjoying the Colorado outdoors!
