Ryan Gottlieb, a 12-year veteran in revenue generation, is in fourth year as CU’s senior associate athletic director and revenue generating officer, joining the department on Jan. 17, 2022.

Gottlieb came to Colorado from Rutgers University, where he was the Scarlet Knights’ associate athletic director for sales strategy and business intelligence for nearly four-and-a-half years (September 2017 through January 2022).

In his role at RU, Gottlieb oversaw all ticketing activities, which included the construction of ticket marketing, sales and service plan, development of revenue/attendance driving initiatives and building a robust business intelligence plan.  He also served as the primary managerial contact for Rutgers' ticketing operations and athletic department's ticket-related partnerships with Paciolan and the Aspire Group.  Under Gottlieb’s leadership, Rutgers experienced a handful of successes including four consecutive years of season ticket growth in men’s basketball, 23 sold out men’s basketball games, consistently ranked in the top four nationally in wrestling attendance and Rutgers led the country in football average attendance growth in 2021.

During his time in Piscataway, Gottlieb was tasked with managing additional revenue streams for the Scarlet Knights.  Those responsibilities included serving as the administrative point of contact for Rutgers Sports Properties, managing the departments relationship with SHI International (naming rights partner on Rutgers Stadium), helped procure Jersey Mike’s as the naming rights partner for the Rutgers Athletics Center, assisted in managing relationship with concessionaire Gourmet dining, and assisted in managing the relationship with official merchandise provider Dyehard Fan Supply.

He had joined the Rutgers program from Georgia Tech, returning to where he first started in the collegiate sports industry.  In his second stint with the school he was the director of sales and service for almost three-and-a-half years (March 2014 to August 2017).  In this role, he was responsible for the Aspire Group's partnership with the Georgia Tech Athletics Association and managed three ticketing teams: season ticket service and retention, new business development and group sales department.

With the help of Gottlieb, the Yellow Jackets set an all-time school record for total ticket revenue in school history in 2015, as the football program averaged 50,706 fans per game that year, capitalizing on the team’s 11-3 record and No. 8 final ranking the year before and despite the Jackets following that season with a 3-9 record.  In 2014, Gottlieb was a member of the Georgia Tech ticketing department that won the prestigious Paciolan "Star of the Year Award" for embracing technology and strategic innovation.

Prior to his return to Georgia Tech, Gottlieb managed the Aspire Group's partnership with the University of Alabama-Birmingham for 13 months and the Aspire Group’s partnership with Louisiana Tech University for two-plus years.

Gottlieb graduated from the University of South Carolina in 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in Hotel Restaurant and Tourism Management.  He immediately started his career in the sports sales industry, selling football and basketball season tickets at Georgia Tech from 2009-11.  Starting out as a sales consultant, he was promoted to a senior position just eight months into his time on the Yellow Jackets staff.

He was born In Atlanta, Ga., and graduated from Holy Innocent’s, where he lettered in baseball (first basemen, catcher, designated hitter).  His hobbies include playing golf and spending time with family and friends.  He is married to the former Kathyrn Owens and the couple has two children, son Stewart and daughter Cecilia.
