The Big 8 Conference individual champion in both 1993 and 1994, he was a second-team All-American as a senior and a third-team choice as a junior (he was first-team All-Big 8 both years).   He played in three NCAA Championships, his top effort being a runner-up finish in the 1994 Central Regional (68-69-71—208); he tied for ninth in the same event as a junior (77-72-70—219).  One of just four different Buffaloes to earn medalist honors in a conference tournament since 1947, and one of just eight (along with CU’s Hale Irwin) to win back-to-back years in Big 7, 8 and 12 history.  As a junior, he had a 71-71-72—214 scorecard to win by two strokes, and then posted a 69-76-72—217 effort as a senior (a one-shot victory), with both events at the tough Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, Kan.  His 72.62 stroke average for the 1993-94 season was the best in CU history by a senior at the time; he was second on the team as both a sophomore (73.87) and junior (73.67).  His career average of 73.97 was fourth-best at the time of his graduation and still ranks 12th in school annals (with his 144 career rounds are still tied for sixth, with 41 of those being par or better, seventh-most at Colorado).  He is tied for the most top five finishes in CU history (11, including a record six in 1994), ranks fourth in top 20 finishes with 25 and seventh in top 10 efforts with 14.   He was ranked as the 45th golfer nationally for the ’93-94 season, which remains the fourth-highest ever by Buffalo since those rankings began in 1992.  He earned the Colorado Golf Association’s Player of the Year honor for 1993 while still a student at CU.
