He lettered four times on the ski team from 1975-78 under head coach Bill Marolt … He was a member of the four straight NCAA championship teams, the final four of seven straight under Marolt (one of seven CU skiers to be at least a three-time All-American and compete on four national title squads, and just one of three American-born skiers to do so) … A three-time All-American (first-team as a sophomore and senior, second-team as a junior) … As a senior in ‘78, he received the team’s Buddy Werner Award as CU’s most outstanding skier … At the NCAA championships, he placed third in giant slalom in 1976 and second in the slalom in 1978; was fifth in the giant slalom in 1977 (he scored points for the team in all for NCAA events he skied in) … In the ’76 GS, he skied last for CU as he excelled in the icy conditions and Marolt knew he’d be up to the challenge; same icy conditions existed in ‘78 (both meets were held back east when ice was, and is, fairly common … Had numerous top 10 finishes in his collegiate career … He skied professionally for one year while he finished his degree in Communications at CU ‘(’79) … Marolt is on record for saying, “From his first team meeting, I knew he would be a difference maker.  He was enthusiastic and excited about being at CU and over the next four years he became a loyal and proud member of the team.” … He has been an ardent supporter of the CU athletic department since his graduation, particularly with the school’s Ski Ball event, the annual fundraiser for the ski team (the oldest fundraising event in the department, dating back over five decades); he served as chairman for three years (2015-16-17), setting a new record for funds raised each year … The Ski Ball not only provides financial support to the men’s and women’s teams, it has served as an annual alumni event bringing back to campus many former skiers every year … He is also an annual donor to the Buff Club, a season ticket holder in multiple sports and along with his wife, Becky (Callan, a former CU tennis player), donated the “seed” money to help create the department’s Leadership Program for the benefit of CU’s student-athletes … Bruce and Becky were recognized as CU’s athletic donors of the year for 1997 … He also coordinated with his teammates to launch the Bill Marolt Scholarship Endowment Fund … He was born July 18, 1955 in Decatur, Ill., and graduated from the Holderness School in Plymouth, N.H. … Son Beau lettered in basketball at CU (member of CU’s Pac-12 tournament champion team in 2012; three trips to the NCAA’s) and daughter Berkley played one year on the soccer team … Currently employed by Dean Callan & Company (Boulder) in the investment real estate business.
