Kile Morgan lettered two seasons (1967-68) for the Buffaloes as an offensive tackle under head coach, the late Eddie Crowder … He was part of the memorable ‘67 team that finished 9-2, rose to No. 3 in the nation, and culminating with a 31-21 Bluebonnet Bowl victory over Miami-Fla. … A two-year starter at strong side tackle, he was charged with blocking for CU’s running game that amassed 4,200 yards those two seasons as well as protecting quarterbacks Bobby Anderson and Dan Kelly in CU’s Slot-I/Triple Option offense … He has had a remarkable philanthropic impact, an enduring support of CU Athletics, and unwavering dedication to student success … A longtime supporter of his alma mater, he has helped strengthen the department, enhance opportunities for student-athletes, and reinforce the connection between academic success and athletic excellence … His experience as a Buff shaped his career and engendered his lifelong commitment to helping others achieve the same dream; through his extraordinary generosity and steadfast devotion to the university, he became one of the most significant and important philanthropic supporters of CU Athletics and CU Boulder as a whole … In addition to CU, Kile also supports other charitable organizations, including Boys' and Girls' Clubs, his high school alma mater, Sweetwater High School in National City, Calif., and other educational and youth programs ... After graduating from CU, he returned to his native California and worked during the day while attending the Santa Clara University while studying for his MBA at night … After graduation, Kile worked in various roles in the residential housing industry ... In 1980, he became a division President at Ponderosa Homes in the San Ramon Division and became the Senior VP of all California operations in 1983 ... Then in 1985, he led a management buyout of the northern California assets from Aetna Life and Casualty and took the company private, where over the next four decades, ran the company through buyouts and reorganizations … Along the way, he created the Morgan Family Foundation to support the family philanthropic interests and the city of National City where the family started living in 1940 … He graduated from Sweetwater High School in 1964 when he was recruited to CU … He played as a linebacker on CU’s freshman team in ‘64 (when there were freshmen teams as freshmen were not eligible), ultimately becoming a tackle …  Suffering an injury, he was redshirted in 1965; the four years he was on the varsity, CU posted a 26-13-2 record (after going 6-24 the previous three seasons) … Graduated from CU in 1969 with degrees in Civil Engineering and Finance … Received his MBA from Santa Clara University in 1973 … A first-generation college graduate himself, he has said his life was transformed by the opportunity that Eddie Crowder offered him to attend CU on athletic Scholarship … Married (Judy) and the couple has a grown daughter (Michelle).
