The Buffs hit an even .300 for the match, finishing with 55 kills on 130 attacks with only 16 errors. Senior middle blocker Monique Gerlach hit .500 for the match, netting 13 kills on 26 attacks with no errors. Gerlach, CU's all time hitting percentage leader, also recorded 13 digs and seven blocks.
Sophomore outside hitter Nicole Carr racked up her team-high 11th double-dobule, amassing 13 kills and 11 digs. Sophomore outside hitter Maragda Santillana had a team-high 15 kills to go along with seven digs and six blocks.
Defensively, as a team, the Buffs held Baylor to a .202 hitting percentage (44k-18e-129att), and just .138 through the first two games (25k-13e-87att). CU had 9.5 team blocks, out-blocking an opponent for just the fourth time this season.
'We played a solid match,' CU head coach Pi'i Aiu said. 'We've tinkered with the lineup a little and that often gives us a spark. We passed well and were solid overall, but there are still some things we need to work on.'
CU played one of its best offensive games of the season in game one. The Buffs hit .429 amassing 20 kills on 42 attempts with just two errors.
In the second game, the Buffs cooled off offensively hitting just .156 (16k-9e-45att), but picked it up on the defensive end led by Gerlach. The Buffs' captain had five of her seven blocks in the game, including two-straight to help CU build a 13-9 lead they never relinquished.
