
No. 54 WOMEN NETTERS CRUISE 7-0 OVER UT-SAN ANTONIO

SAN ANTONIO, Texas ? University of Colorado freshman Lynzee Kever was one of six singles players to win in straight sets leading the No. 54 nationally ranked Buffaloes to an easy 7-0 victory over the University of Texas-San Antonio, Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference match. It was the first time the two schools met in women's tennis.
CU has won two straight, including five of its last seven and improved to 8-5 overall, while the Roadrunners fall to 5-8.
In doubles, CU dominated from the start of the competition taking all three doubles slots for the 1-0 advantage with Sall and Vanderdys winning 8-3; Kever/Strandemo won 8-2; and Susan Johnson and Kristy Randono had an easy 8-1 match at No. 3.
For the season, when CU has claimed the doubles point, they have won all eight matches.
In singles, Kever, ranked No. 65th by the ITA won at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-1 to win her 10th singles match of the spring. It was her ninth win in 12 attempts at the top singles slot.
Jessica Vanderdys also cruised at No. 2 winning, 6-0, 6-4; along with Kendra Strandemo (6-0, 6-0) at No. 3 singles. It was Vanderdys' seventh and Strandemo's seven and fifth wins, respectively this spring.
The CU women continued their dominance in the latter singles positions as Martina Sedivec broke a personal seven- match skid taking a 6-4, 6-1 decision at No. 4; Morgan Sall, recently named the Big 12 Co-Player of the Week won her sixth straight (6-4, 6-2) at No. 5; and Jenny Hanson won her third spring match taking a 6-0, 6-1 winner at No. 6.
“We weren't sure if there was going to be a match with the weather, but we're happy to get the match in and win our eighth of the season,” said CU head coach Nicole Kenneally. “Now, we turn our attention back to conference play with Baylor on Friday.”
Colorado continues their two-match road trip through Texas playing at Baylor this Friday, March 26 at 5 p.m.
