u Hmmm... the “weakling” Big 12 North opens 1-0 and the Big 12 South 0-1, against the same conference. Maybe the southern schools won't be pushing for that extra game against the North after all.

u The temperature at kickoff?89 degrees?tied for the sixth warmest in CU history, and was the third warmest in Boulder (it was 91 against Washington in 2000 and 91 versus Fresno State in 2001); complete list on page 299 of the 2004 CU Media Guide (not included in 2005 version, among a lot of things, thanks to NCAA page limit legislation).
u PK Mason Crosby. He had quite the 21st birthday (it is today), as he made good on all three field goal attempts (32, 48 and 47 yards) and two PATs for 11 points... that gives him 148 for his career to vault him into the top 20 in all-time scoring at Colorado (17th; he started the day tied for 21st).
--He is now 29-of-35 for his career in field goals (regular season, 33-of-41 including bowls); that includes 16-of-16 from inside 40 yards and a most respectable 13-of-19 (68.4%) from 41 yards or longer.

u QB Joel Klatt. Here's what CU's senior quarterback accomplished today:
--Fourth Quarter Comebacks: this was his eighth with CU trailing or tied to either win a game or send it into overtime (7-1 record, including 2003 and 2005 versus CSU);
--He finishes his career 3-0 against
--Stats: 22 of 32 for 283 yards (0 TD/1 INT). He moves into third all-time in passing yards with 4,963, passing Mike Moschetti (4,797) and John Hessler (4,788) today.
--His first true rush of the game (second play after the pitch fumble) went for 14 yards?a career long.
u P John Torp. The Ray Guy candidate's first punt went for 72 yards after hitting at the 11 with the return man allowing it to roll into the end zone. It was the longest punt of his career, and the first 70-plus yard effort by a Buff since QB Mike Moschetti surprised
u ILB Akarika Dawn. His interception to open the fourth quarter was the second pick of his career; the other came in his sophomore season (2003) at
u CB Gerett Burl. He had his first career interception at the most opportune time, setting up Hugh Charles 29-yard go-ahead touchdown run with 1:30 left in the fourth quarter.
u CU Tight Ends. What a combo today, as Joe Klopfenstein (4-76) and Quinn Sypniewski (2-44) combined for six receptions for 120 yards.
u TB Hugh Charles. The diminutive sophomore had the first 100-yard rushing game of his career, with 15 carries for 101 yards and two scores.
u First Action. ILB Marcus Burton was the lone true freshman to see action for
