Quickly CU had its first two 40-yard plays of the season on offense, both coming in the first half: a 42-yard run by TB Darrell Scott (2nd Q) and a 40-yard pass from QB Cody Hawkins to TB Demetrius Sumler (1st Q) ... CU's first quarter TD ended a scoring drought that lasted 104 minutes and 17 seconds, as the last Buff score took place with 6:19 left in the second quarter against Kansas State on Oct. 18 ... DE Marquez Herrod made his first career start as CU opened in its base 4-3 defense ... CU's had one first half turnover ? and yes, it came in the second quarter, when the Buffs have now committed 11 of its 16 on the year (with just two in the second half) ... PK Jameson Davis made his first career field goal attempt, knocking it through from 30 yards with :03 left in the first half; CU had missed seven straight prior, including one today, with all seven tries by Aric Goodman, whose last make was the game winner in overtime versus West Virginia ... CU limited A&M to just 76 yards on 22 plays in plus territory (the 50 on in), with 32 of those coming on a third quarter touchdown pass ... A&M was the next to last Big 12 team Dan Hawkins had not coached against until today; the last is Oklahoma State which comes to Boulder on Nov. 15 ... At the Big 12 cross country championships in Ames, the CU men finished second, the first time the Buffs have not been crowned league champs (12 in a row, OSU won), while the women placed fifth, ending a run of 9 straight titles (All-American/Olympian Jenny Barringer did not run as she is redshirting). QB TYLER HANSEN (23-11-2, 89, 0 TD; 16-86 RUSH) Hansen set a school record for the most single-season rushing yards by a true freshman quarterback, as he now has 216 in just three games; the old best was 177 by Marc Walters in 1986 (5 games); Darian Hagan had 175 in 1988 (also in 5 games).

LONG DRIVE RUNNIN... The 98-yard touchdown drive by
THIRD QUARTER BLUES CU's defense played outstanding in the first, second and fourth quarters, limiting the Aggies to a combined 96 yards in those three quarters (on 45 plays, or just over 2.1 per). A&M used an explosive third quarter to take over the game, outgaining the Buffs 202-55, despite holding just a 19-15 advantage in plays. Yards by quarters:
