No. 47 Tennis Falls 5-2

BOULDER?The University of Colorado tennis team claimed a pair of singles victories, however they were not enough to beat No. 37 Boise State, 5-2 Saturday afternoon at the Millennium Hotel Harvest House Bubble.
The Buffaloes pick up their two points with singles victories by senior Franziska Jendrian and freshman Michala Hedelund Jensen at the No. 4 and No. 6 positions, respectively.
The No. 47 nationally ranked Buffaloes fall to 4-4 in the spring season, while the Broncos improve to 7-2 overall. Today's match up marks CU's first loss against Boise State since the series started in 1995 in six matches.
“It was a good match and it was well played, and we fought hard,” said CU head coach Nicole Kenneally. “The girls came out and played hard. Boise State just played a little better. We continue to see progress and see things we need to work on and we have a couple of weeks off before we play Denver.”
Jendrian's victory was a 7-6(5), 6-1 tally over Bianca Jochimsen, marking her 19th win this season, a team-high for the Buffaloes. The victory was also her 79th career win placing her two behind Jessica Garrow (1997-2000) with 81 career wins and in sixth place.
Hedelund Jensen recorded her fourth spring singles victory defeating Rocio Frej, 7-5, 5-7, 1-0(2) at the No. 6. Hedelund Jensen also recorded her ninth win this season.
The Buffs will be back in action at Denver on Feb. 28. They will return home on Mar. 13 to begin Big 12 play against Oklahoma.
