Tennis Sweeps Metro State, 7-0

DENVER - The University of Colorado women's tennis team returned to the win column late Sunday night winning all nine matches convincing and shutting out Metro State, 7-0 at the Pinehurst Country Club. It was only the second match up between the two schools and first meeting in 31 years between the in-state institutions.
"Tonight we had an opportunity to work on some things and see some of the improvements we have made," CU head coach Nicole Kenneally said. "Metro State is a good D2 team and I wish them the best of luck the remainder of the season. We will now continue to move ahead and take the confidence from this win and get ready for Oregon and New Mexico at home next weekend."
CU (2-2) dominated the doubles portion of the competition winning all three matches by 8-1 scores. It was the Roadrunners first loss of the year falling to 4-1. The Buffs are now 2-0 all-time against Metro State.
At No. 1, Michala Hedelund Jensen and Abbie Probert defeated Holm/Amos 8-1; at No. 2, Carla Manzi Tenorio and Winde Janssens defeated Herrman/Orzalla Nebiyar 8-1; at No. 3, freshman Kristina Barber saw her first action of the season teaming with Ania Anuszkiewicz for another 8-1 win.
In singles, the Buffaloes swept all six singles positions as Probert, Hedelund Jensen, Anuszkiewicz, Manzi Tenorio, Janssens, and Kristina Schleich all won in straight sets.
Probert moved into eighth place on the CU's all-time doubles victories list with 58, while Hedelund Jensen is now tied for 30th all-time with 37 wins. On the all-time combined singles and doubles triumphs list, Probert moved into a tie for 22nd place with 97 victories.
The Buffaloes return to home matches in Boulder this Friday, Feb. 18 against future Pac-12 opponent in the Oregon Ducks. The match will begin at 9 a.m. The Ducks will also play New Mexico on Saturday at The Meadows Club for an 11 a.m. match, while CU will take on the Lobos at 10 a.m. Sunday.
