Tennis Falls To 2-2 on The Season

Saturday, the Buffaloes rallied from a 2-0 deficit to claim a 4-3 victory against the Cougars.
CU is 2-2 on the young season and remains idle until Saturday, Feb. 11 when they take on in-state rival Colorado State at the Meadows Club in Boulder.
Against the Lumberjacks (4-2), the Buffs trailed early falling behind 1-0 losing all three doubles points. The 'Jacks took control of the match winning the No. 5 and No. 6 positions in straight sets and taking a commanding 3-0 lead. SFA clinched the team win soon after, claiming victory at No. 1 singles, also in straight sets.
CU did manage a point with sophomore Winde Janssens winning her second match in as many days, defeating Jithmie Jayawickrema, 6-2, 6-2. Janssens improves to 9-4 overall for the year and evening her spring record at 2-2.
"Today we played a very good SFA team; they will definitely be in the NCAA Tournament at the end of the year," CU head coach Nicole Kenneally said. "We played with a lot of fight and hustle in a lot of positions and will continue to work on bringing this to every match. As a team, we are making strides with coming together as a young group and I like the direction we are headed."
Sunday's match between the 'Jacks and Buffaloes was the first-ever meeting between the two schools in women's tennis.
