Buffs Fall To No. 30 Shockers, 7-0

WICHITA, Kan. – The University of Colorado women's tennis team fell behind early on Sunday to the No. 30-ranked Wichita State Shockers, losing 7-0 at the Wichita Country Club in Wichita, Kansas.
The loss moved CU to 5-2 on the season with its second straight loss, while the Shockers improved to 10-3.
In singles play, No. 109-ranked Huang fell to Wichita State's No. 106-ranked Sandra Honigova in a hard-fought match, 6-2, 1-6, 7-5. Daniel battled the Shockers' Marta Bellucco before falling, 6-4, 3-6, 1-6.
"In singles we had three matches go to three sets and one go deep in the second," Kenneally said. "We competed well and continued to fight which is the first ingredient to long term success. Wichita state is a solid team from top to bottom and we will use what we learned today to move us forward in our season."
Colorado will play at New Mexico State on Saturday, March 3 with first serve set for 2 p.m. MT before taking on New Mexico on Sunday, March 4 at 12 p.m. MT.

"Today is one of those matches where it's hard to see by some of the scores on paper how much we were in the matches," head coach Nicole Kenneally said. "We had a new team together in doubles and once they got going it was competitive and just ran out of time."
