Two Buffs Advance to Consolation Quarterfinals

SAN DIEGO, and SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA – Day two at the Battle in the Bay and the UTSA Intercollegiate Championships once again did not go as expected for the Colorado Buffaloes Tennis team, but for different reasons than day one only registering two matches due to a rain delay in San Diego.

Action was set to begin at the UTSA Intercollegiate Championships for day two when a torrential down pour began pushing the players off the court as they were set to play doubles. As the players waited and waited for the weather to clear it became clear that the rain was here to stay. Play was cancelled for today and would resume tomorrow.

Up the coast where the weather was sunny in San Francisco at the Battle in the Bay Aya El Sayed and Mila Stanojevic looked to rebound from two losses yesterday. Stanojevic took the court first for the Buffs against TCU's Margaret Polk in the consolation round of 16. After a dominant two sets she won 6-1, 6-0 for the first win of the fall.

Shortly after El Sayed would battle face off against Hana Gamracy of San Francisco in the consolation round of 16. Much like Stanojevic, El Sayed started off strong winning every game to win the first set 6-0. In the second set it became tighter, but in the end El Sayed finished it off with a 6-4 second set win to advance.
After a disappointing first day in the Bay the Buffs rebounded to go undefeated and both advance to the consolation quarterfinals tomorrow.

The Buffs will return to the courts tomorrow at Battle in the Bay and UTSA Intercollegiate Championships. Both tournaments go through Sunday September 24.
