Women’s Golf Adds Three For 2025-26

November 13, 2024 | Women's Golf

BOULDER — Colorado women's golf went local, and global, in adding three standout student-athletes for the 2025-26 season.

Brenna Higgins, Teemapat Pateetin and Ananthi Vivek have signed their Financial Aid Agreements to continue their educations and join the Buffaloes' women's golf team for the 2025-26 season.

Pateetin, from Thailand, and Vivek, from India, will become the first women's student-athletes from those countries to compete for Colorado and in any current varsity sport regardless of gender. Colorado had a pair of men's tennis players from India – Karthik Raju (2005-06) and Anil Yagnik (1949-52) - before that sport was discontinued in 2006.

"We are very proud of our 2025 recruiting class," Colorado head coach Madeleine Sheils said. "This group stands out as hard workers who are hungry for success, and I know they'll help push us towards our goal of making a run in the postseason. We are welcoming Colorado's first players from Thailand and India. We are also thrilled to have a local Colorado player on the roster again. I am happy we are bringing in players from three distinct corners of the world because I know each will bring unique perspective and experience to the locker room."

Brenna Higgins, Centennial, Colo. (Valor Christian)
Brenna Higgins is the two-time defending Colorado Class 5A Individual State Champion claiming back-to-back medalist honors for Valor Christian in 2023 and 2024. She has helped the Eagles to the last three Colorado 5A team titles. Higgins won the 2023 Colorado Golf Association (CGA) State Junior Match Play championship and the 2023 COPGA Mizuno Junior Invitational. She has represented Team Colorado at the last two Junior Americas Cup competitions. Her best round in competition came at the 2024 Colorado 5A State Championships, shooting 66 in the final round at Broadlands Golf Course in Broomfield to claim her second-straight individual title by six strokes at 6-under-par. Higgins has also been active in competitive skiing, cross country and soccer.

Brenna Higgins on staying in Colorado: "I obviously really like the state, and I love coach Maddie and (assistant coach) Mia (Landegren). Those are the biggest factors. And there seems to be a great environment with the team. There's so much support and everyone can come out for close-by tournaments. Just being able to show the younger generation that someone from a cold weather state growing up and (playing) junior golf can play at a big Division I school."

Coach Sheils: "Brenna Higgins is going to be an awesome Buff. She has great athleticism and power because of her background in competitive skiing, and after deciding to go all in on golf during the pandemic, she has been on the fast track to success. I got to see some of her Colorado High School State Championship win this past spring, and I was so impressed by her relaxed attitude in the heat of competition. We are excited to welcome one of the very best junior golfers in Colorado and her wonderful family to the team."

Teemapat Pateetin, Bangkok, Thailand (Singapore International School of Bangkok)
Teemapat Pateetin has had success this year on the Thai Junior Golfer Guardian Association circuit. She claimed medalist honors at the 2024 TJGGA Open Championship at the Dynasty Golf & Country Club in February. Pateetin tied for fourth at the Mazda AJGA Thailand Junior Championship in May 2024 and later that same month tied for 20th at the 31st Singha Thailand Ladies Amateur Open. She had her best rounds of golf this past July with back-to-back rounds of 66 to win the TGA-Singha Junior Golf Ranking Match #2 at the Uniland Golf & Resort. Pateetin was the medalist and helped the Samut Prakan women's golf team to a win at the National Youth Games Region 1 Qualifier to Nationals at the Treasure Hill Golf and Country Club just this past week (Nov. 6-8).

Teemapat Pateetin on signing with Colorado: "During my recruitment process, I felt that I got along with Coach Maddie really well. I think it would be really exciting to be part of her team for four years. The Integrative Physiology program that the university has to offer also fits my interests perfectly. In addition to that, the school has such a unique campus, with a lot of activities to do other than study and golf."

Coach Sheils: "We are thrilled to add Teem to the Buff family. She is a phenomenal player thanks to her incredible work ethic and dedication to the game. Teem already possesses the most difficult skill in golf- the ability to shoot under par on a regular basis. She is consistent, determined, and I think she will have an immediate impact on our line-up next fall."

Ananthi Vivek, Chennai, India (Inventure Academy)
Ananthi Vivek had a strong summer of 2024 with three top 13 finishes on the Future Champions Golf Tour, highlighted by a fifth place showing at the FCG Callaway Collegiate Championship in Palm Springs, Calif. She also placed seventh at the FCG Collegiate National Championship in Encinitas, Calif., shooting even-par at that 54-hole event. Vivek tied for 13th, out of 100 girls, at the FCG Callaway World Championship. She has five top 20 finishes in national tournaments in India while winning five south zone tournaments and seven club events. In 2023 she qualified to represent the TamiNadu Ladies Team as their amateur at the India National Games at the Delhi Golf Club. A competitive squash player, she won an individual title at the 2019 International School Sports Organization National Games.

Ananthi Vivek on signing with Colorado: "A beautiful campus. A wonderful head coach who's journey I can relate to. The athletics capital of the USA. A well-balanced schedule for academics and athletics. I believe Colorado can make me a well-rounded and multitalented student and athlete."

Coach Sheils: "Ananthi Vivek is another exciting addition. Like Brenna, Ananthi decided golf would be her path when her previous sport, squash, was unavailable to her during the pandemic. Ananthi dove into golf headfirst and never looked back. She moved to a golf academy several hours from home and quickly improved her skills, all while maintaining high-level academics. She has been using this year as a gap year to train full-time so that she is even more prepared for college golf. Ananthi's focus, smarts, and determination to compete at the highest level are going to be a huge asset to our team. I can't wait to see how her game takes off during her career as a Buff."
