Five student athletes stay alive into final day of Baylor Invite, and two into round 64 at ITA All-American Championships

WACO, TEXAS & CARY, N.C. – Five Colorado Buffaloes continued play today at the Baylor Invite today in Waco, Texas, and two began their run in Cary, North Carolina, at the ITA All-American Championships.

Mila Stanojevic and Aya El Sayed, finished day one of the ITA All-American Championships with two singles victories, keeping them alive into Sunday in the pre-qualifying round.

At the Baylor Invite, Betina Tokac captured a straight-set win, however Lera Alexin, Anya Nelson, Willow Gretsch, and Pia Rebec fell in their singles matches for the day.

To start the day, Tokac faced Emma Rizzeto of Illinois, making quick work of her victory. Tokac downed Rizzeto 6-2, 6-3, advancing to the next round.

Alexin, Nelson, Gretsch, and Rebec stay alive into Sunday, keeping the competition going.

Over in Cary, Stanojevic and El Sayed had a dominant showing in their opening rounds of singles competition.

Stanojevic took the court first, going up against opponent Kasia Treiber from Illinois. Stanojevic wasted no time in her defeated, capturing a straight set from Treiber 6-3, 6-1. El Sayed followed with her match against Northern Illinois University's Erika Dimitriev. El Sayed took the match in a straight set as well, finishing 6-2, 6-0.

The five student athletes competing at the Baylor Invite will continue competition at 9 a.m. on Sunday morning, as well as El Sayed and Stanojevic moving into the round of 64 Sunday morning as well.
