Balch Fieldhouse Tennis Courts Now Available to the Public
January 14, 2025 | General, Tennis
Tennis players throughout the Boulder community can now reserve courts at the University of Colorado's iconic Balch Fieldhouse, as part of a CU Athletics initiative to provide practice space for its women's tennis team while also creating more opportunities for the area tennis community. Â
The Balch Fieldhouse indoor tennis courts will be open to the public beginning Thursday, January 16 and will be open Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Reservation fees are $45 on peak hours, which are 6 - 10 a.m. and 3 - 9 p.m., and $35 on off-peak hours. Â
To reserve a court, players can simply download the Playbypoint App, create an account, and enter their payment information. Courts can be reserved from one to two hours and can be cancelled up to 24 hours in advance without incurring a fee. Court fees must be paid in advance and each player must sign a waiver before play can begin. The courts are available for tennis only and are not available for pickleball or other athletic uses.  Â
For a full list of rules and guidelines, please visit the Balch Indoor Tennis Court information page.Â
Community access to tennis courts in Balch Fieldhouse is part of a larger partnership between CU Athletics and the City of Boulder to increase tennis opportunities throughout the Boulder community and beyond, culminating in the creation of new indoor and outdoor courts at East Boulder Community Park.  Â
Throughout its storied 87-year history, Balch Fieldhouse has been the home to a number of CU varsity sports teams, including both basketball teams, tennis, volleyball, track & field, wrestling, and gymnastics.Â
