Jaylyn Sherrod To Be First Honoree for Women's Basketball Wall of Honor

November 07, 2025 | General, Women's Basketball

Former point guard will be recognized at the game on Nov. 16

Boulder, Colo- The University of Colorado women's basketball team will be honoring its impressive legacy with the introduction of a Wall of Honor at CU Events Center, which will pay tribute to six outstanding former players who made significant contributions to the program and CU Athletics. The first player honored will be former point guard Jaylyn Sherrod who will be recognized at the game against Portland State on Nov. 16.

"Jaylyn Sherrod is one of the all-time greats at the University of Colorado," said head coach JR Payne. "She embodied everything that makes being a Buff so special — passion, integrity, and relentless drive. Jay approached her academics with the same commitment she brought to the court: tireless work, fierce competitiveness, and a genuine love for this program. I continue to be incredibly proud of all she has accomplished and all she continues to do for the University of Colorado."

Sherrod, who is Colorado's all-time leader in games started with 133, was a standout for the Buffs from 2019-2024, leading CU to back-to-back NCAA Sweet Sixteen appearances her junior and senior years. In those two seasons she also earned All-Pac-12 honors and in 2024 was a WBCA and AP All-America Honorable Mention. After leaving Boulder, Sherrod became the first Buff to win a WNBA title as a member of the New York Liberty in 2024.

Fans will have the opportunity to honor and thank Sherrod for all she's done for Colorado basketball on Nov. 16 when the Buffs host Portland State at 1 p.m. A special "Jaylyn Sherrod VIP Experience" is available, which includes a reserved ticket to the game, custom VIP credential, exclusive post-game photo opportunity with Jaylyn, and the opportunity to get one item personally autographed. Proceeds benefit the CU women's basketball program.

The tribute to Sherrod is one of a series of events the women's basketball has planned throughout the year to honor its illustrious past. The other Wall of Honor players will be honored during the 2025-26 season and the plaza outside the CUEC will be renamed in honor of former head coach Ceal Barry on Jan. 25.

Women's basketball season tickets, mini plans and single game tickets are all on sale now.
