Xcel Energy is planning Public Safety Power Shutoffs on Wednesday due to forecasted high winds
Xcel Energy has notified CU Boulder of planned Public Safety Power Shutoffs (PSPS) that could impact the CU Boulder campus starting at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 17, and lasting through 6 p.m. Wednesday evening. Xcel's decision is the result of a National Weather Service (NWS) Red Flag warning that has been issued for much of the Colorado Front Range, including Boulder, for Wednesday late morning through Wednesday afternoon. The NWS forecasts gusts reaching 60-80 MPH, with sustained winds of 30-40 MPH by mid-afternoon Wednesday.
Wednesday's CU men's basketball game against Portland State remains scheduled for 7 p.m. but fans are encouraged to take caution when traveling to the game and allow extra time for any potential travel delays. In the event the game cannot be played on Wednesday, it will be rescheduled for Thursday, Dec. 18 at 10 a.m. If the game is postponed, fans will be notified of the change by 3 p.m. on Wednesday.
