
Colorado Lacrosse Notches Two More Big 12 Weekly Awards

Junior defender Mack Hanlon received her first conference honor, and freshman goalkeeper Elena Oh earned her third in a row
BOULDER – Colorado lacrosse's junior defender Mack Hanlon (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley HS) was named Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week, and freshman goalkeeper Elena Oh (Chapel Hill, N.C./East Chapel Hill HS) was chosen as Goalkeeper of the Week, the Conference announced Tuesday, Mar. 18. These two awards mark the fourth and fifth Big 12 weekly honors this season for the Buffs.
This is Oh's third week in a row receiving this conference honor. Oh was crucial in both games this past week, saving 12 goals overall, facing 30 shots and managing a .545 save percentage. She had six saves against each team, saving .500 against Marquette (Mar. 11) and .600 versus Iona (Mar. 15). Oh currently leads the Big 12 in save percentage with .488 (41 saves), and she is third in the Conference for goals against average with 9.26. She is also fourth in conference for saves per game (8.20). Her stats for goals against average and save percentage put her at 19th in the NCAA, and she is 39th for saves per game.
Hanlon earned her first-ever conference honor after her performances against the Golden Eagles and the Gaels. She managed four ground balls and caused two turnovers against Iona on Saturday, and she had two ground balls and two caused turnovers against Marquette. Hanlon totals 12 ground balls and seven caused turnovers on the season, having played and started in all seven games so far this season.
The Buffs recorded back-to-back wins over Marquette, 15-6, and Iona, 12-4. These were the Buffs first unranked teams of the season, having already played two teams in the IWLCA top-five and five in the top-25.
Colorado takes on Stony Brook this Thursday, Mar. 20, at Prentup Field at 5 p.m. MT. CU will also go to Houston for a neutral game with Dartmouth on Sunday (Mar. 23). The Buffs begin Big 12 play on the road at San Diego State (Mar. 29) and host Forida for this season's Big 12 home opener. All home games and upcoming Big 12 games will be carried live on ESPN+.

Before the start of the 2025 season, the Buffs (3-4, 0-0 Big 12) were picked to finish second in the Preseason Big 12 Coaches' Poll. CU was ranked 21st in the first week of the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Poll and 20th in the Inside Lacrosse Women's (ILWomen) Division I Media Poll. Graduate attacker Madeline Pisani was picked for Preseason Big 12 Attack Player of the Year, and junior defender Jess Peluso and junior midfielder Lily Assini joined her on the Preseason All-Big 12 Team. Pisani also Earned USA Lacrosse Preseason All-America Honorable Mention. The Buffs are coached by 12th-year head coach Ann Elliott Whidden, who was named IWLCA West/Midwest Region Coach of the Year (2017 and '18), was the 2018 Pac-12 Coach of the Year and 2017 MPSF Coach of the Year.
