Buffs Set to Host No. 13 Texas Tech

BOULDER – Colorado tennis team closes out a three-match home stand, facing off against No. 13 Texas Tech on Saturday (4:30 p.m.) at the Meadows Club.
Last weekend, the Buffs won their first conference match of the season, ending an eight-match losing streak against Houston. Â They will look to use that match as momentum heading into this weekend's match against Texas Tech.
"With all the adversity we've dealt with, as coaches, we continue to preach doing the right things and controlling what we can control," head coach Anthony Pham said. "But at the end of the day, you have to get through a match to know and feel what it should be like. For the team to get that done against Houston, hopefully, it can generate some momentum. Texas Tech is a good team, but we're going to keep doing what we've been doing, which is just battling and putting ourselves in the right positions."
Against Houston, Colorado had the top three spots in singles all win their match against a conference opponent since facing Utah in 2021. Ema Bubalo, Mila Stanojevic, and Betina Tokac led the way against the Cougars.
Bubalo has quietly put together one of the best seasons in recent years. She currently holds a doubles record of 22-5, which ties her for 6th in a single-season program history. Her record is an .814-win percentage, second in a single season at CU.
With her partner, Anya Nelson, the two have a record of 17-4, which is one win away from top 10 at CU in a single season. With a .809-win percentage together, they are second in a single season.
This will be the first time competing against Texas Tech since 2011, the last season in the Big 12. Colorado holds an all-time series lead of 16-9, with the last win coming at home in 2009.
The Red Raiders come to Boulder ranked 13th with a record of 14-2 and tied for the top spot in the conference.
