Paul Twins To Team Up In Zurich Classic of New Orleans

April 23, 2025 | Men's Golf, Alumni C Club

Tournament runs Thursday through Sunday

BOULDER — One of the sets of the University of Colorado's most recognizable twins will team together this weekend to play in the PGA Tour's Zurich Classic of New Orleans, which runs Thursday through Sunday.

No, obviously not "those" twins (Peggy and Betty), but the Paul twins, CU golf alums Jeremy and Yannik, who will play together for the first time in the same professional tournament since both turned pro after graduating from CU late last decade.  Jeremy earned his PGA Tour card last December after several years on the Korn Ferry circuit, while Yannick has been playing on the DP World Tour the last three years.

Beginning in 2017, the Zurich Classic started utilizing a "team format," where two players compete as a unit.  Play alternates between Four-ball (best ball) and foursomes (alternate shot) rounds; the first and third rounds are Four-ball, the second and final rounds are Foursomes.  In Four-ball, each teammate plays their own ball, and the lowest score on each hole counts as their score; in foursomes, teams

Rory McElroy, fresh off his win in the Masters, and Steve Lowry, are the defending champions.   TPC Louisiana plays host to the event in Avondale, a suburb of New Orleans.

Just last weekend, both were in contention for victories until late in the final round, half a world apart, Yannik in the Volvo China Open in Shanghai, and Jeremy in the Corales Puntacana Championship in the Dominican Republic; Yannik finished third at 12-under par, two behind Ashun Wu; Jeremy tied for second with four others at 13-under, one behind Garrick Higgo.

"This is the first time we're teaming up as professionals, and it's obviously super-exciting for us," Jeremy said.  "We obviously did a bunch of times as amateurs back in the day, in team championships at home (in Germany) we had played together, and in other amateur events.  We're grateful that the officials for the Zurich gave us a spot for this event so that we can play together.

"We've been playing mostly half a world apart, split between the DP World Tour and the PGA Tour, so we're really thrilled, of course not only to see each other but to play together the first time as professionals.  Hopefully we can rely on our experience playing together as in the past and have a good week."

No doubt it will make some history, becoming the third set of twins to play in a PGA event; the Hojgaard twins (Rasmus and Nicolai) just recently played in the Masters two weeks ago (and had previously in the British Open), and the Coody twins, Pierceson and Parker were paired together in last year's Houston Open.   The Pauls are CU's second set of twin to play professionally, joining sisters Kristin and Jenny Coleman who have been in numerous events on the Epson Tour.
