Annual Colorado Golf Day Set For August 25

July 30, 2025 | Men's Golf

BOULDER — The 16th annual Colorado Golf Day, the team's major fundraiser that annually has brought together coaches, current and former players and supporters of the program, is set once against at Boulder Country Club for Monday, August 25.

Once again, participants have the opportunity to play the course that has previously hosted several of the state's top amateur tournaments throughout its history, and the 2017 Pac-12 championship.

Head coach Roy Edwards created the popular event in 2010.  Individuals and foursomes can play in the event, which starts with an informal lunch before a 1:30 p.m.  shotgun start with a "shamble" format.  Each group will be paired with a CU golf celebrity or a special guest (team members, coaches, staff and others).  Awards and heavy appetizers are post-golf.

"This event has always served as an exciting way to start the season since its creation," said Edwards, who is beginning his 20th season as CU's head coach.  "Boulder Country Club has done a terrific job through the years and will again host Colorado Golf Day, our important fundraiser for the men's golf team.  Everyone enjoys the course and  the opportunity to meet the team."

The format is a four-person "shamble" with a 1:30 p.m. shotgun start, and entry fees include lunch, soft drinks, a heavy appetizer awards reception and prizes (a shamble is where everyone tees off, but then everyone plays in from the location of the best drive).  Also included is membership in the Colorado Golf Partners booster program.

Individual entry fees are $600, with a team of four costing $2,400; players can compete as individuals or for their businesses, but also can compete with three others on behalf of their designated golf club (members, pros, staff members, etc.) and the winning team will receive a rotating trophy to be on display at their club.

For the second straight year, each foursome will have a special guest added as a fifth member to their foursome – a "CU golf celebrity."   The full list of those guests, which will include member of the golf team, alumni and others, will be made available by August 19; taams will then have an opportunity to submit closed bids up until the start of the tournament to determine which players they will be paired with.

There are also several sponsorship opportunities available (hole and title sponsors at various donation amounts), along with many great auction items to bid on as well.  All net proceeds from the event go to the Men's Golf Team Excellence Fund to help defray assorted expenses over the course of the season.  Those interested in helping support the team don't need to play by choosing to donate one of the sponsorship choices.

(The 2025-26 Buffaloes return five lettermen from last year's team, which finished 23rd in the nation after enjoying one of, if not its best, regular seasons in the 101-year history of the program.  And academically, the team has now recorded nine straight semesters over a 3.0 grade point average.)
