Colorado Women’s Basketball Announces Home Nonconference Schedule

August 13, 2025 | Women's Basketball

BOULDER – The Colorado Buffaloes women's basketball team will host eight nonconference opponents during the 2025-26 season, head coach JR Payne announced Wednesday, Aug. 12. The slate features a mix of familiar foes and first-time matchups, providing an exciting early-season test for the Black and Gold inside the CU Events Center.

"We are very excited to announce our preseason schedule for 2025-26," Coach Payne said. "We have challenged ourselves with many teams that played in the postseason last year and who have various styles of play. I believe this will prepare us for another great season of Big 12 play!"

The Buffs begin the 2025-26 season with an exhibition game against the Colorado School of Mines on Oct. 29 before launching into four home games in November, split between pairs from the Mountain West and Big Sky conferences. The Buffs tip off the regular season on Nov. 6 against New Mexico, a program Colorado has had success against, winning the last eight meetings between the two schools. CU then welcomes its first of three Big Sky Conference opponents on Nov. 16 when Portland State visits Boulder. Two days later, the Buffs square off against Boise State (Nov. 18), before wrapping up the month with a long-awaited meeting against Montana State on Nov. 30 — the Buffs' first matchup with the Bobcats since the 1995-96 season.

The month of December features four more home games, beginning with a historic first-ever contest against College of Charleston on Dec. 2. CU then steps back into familiar territory, hosting Mountain West rival Wyoming on Dec. 7. The Buffs close nonconference play with a pair of intriguing matchups: Miami (OH) on Dec. 14 — a reunion 26 years in the making since their last meeting in 1998-99 — and Northern Colorado on Dec. 16, a Front Range rivalry in which Colorado holds a dominant all-time series lead, including 12 straight wins.

With five transfers and five incoming freshmen, the home nonconference slate will provide Buff Nation an early glimpse of how this year's roster stacks up.

"I am especially excited that we have eight home games during our preseason so that our Buff Fans can come watch this exciting ball club," Payne said. "This year's team will be so much fun to watch!"
