Edwards Announces 2025-26 Men's Golf Schedule

Many familiar events plus two new ones mark schedule
BOULDER — University of Colorado men's head golf coach Roy Edwards announced the team's 2025-26 schedule Friday, and with the Buffaloes coming off one of its best seasons in its 101-year history, the schedule has a familiar look for the most part with the exception of two new events for the first time.
Edwards is entering his 20th season at the reins of the Buffalo program, with this year's team one of his younger ones (just one senior – as compared to five on the '24-25 team that finished 23rd in the nation. But the eight-man roster is not devoid of talent and figures to contend for postseason for the third time in the last four years. In addition to one senior, there are two juniors, two sophomores and two true freshmen in addition to a graduate transfer who has two years of eligibility remaining.
"We have a lot of experience on this team with everyone on the lineup getting a lot of tournament reps," Edwards said. "I'm very excited about hitting the ground running this fall and then also how the team develops throughout the season. It has a chance to be a special group."
For the second straight year, the season will get underway at Washington State's Palouse Collegiate in Pullman on Sept. 9-10. The Buffaloes played in the tourney for the first time last year and finished second with a 34-under par team effort, the fourth-best by a CU team in relation to par (with the team total of 818 the second-lowest gross score). It's one of seven tournaments in the Pacific Time Zone that Colorado will play in – along with four in the Mountain and one each in the Central and the Hawai'ian.
The Buffs then play on the Front Range for the next three tournaments, beginning with the New Mexico William H. Tucker Intercollegiate in Albuquerque (Sept. 19-20), the 69th time CU will play in the Lobos' premier meet that it finally broke through and won for the first time last year. Next on the docket will be the 15th annual Mark Simpson-Colorado Invitational (Sept. 29-30) at Colorado National Golf Club in Erie. The Buffaloes have won their own meet eight times in the 14 years of its existence, with runner-up finishes the last three seasons. Simultaneously, CU will host the second CU-Les Fowler Individual Invitational at the Broadlands Golf Course in Broomfield; it's been resurrected from its first time in 2019 and will be filled by additional players from the teams competing in the Simpson.
CU then will head back west to play for the first time in the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational (Oct. 9-11), hosted by the University of the Pacific. The Buffaloes close out the fall portion of its schedule once again in Hawaii's Ka'anapali Classic Collegiate (Oct. 27-29), where last November CU finished second and made another dent in the record book with a 36-under team score of 816, the latter the all-time school best.
Colorado will open the spring portion of the season for the second straight year in The Prestige at PGA West (Feb. 16-18), the tournament that former CU head coach, the late Mark Simpson, help create back in 2000-01; this will be the 13th time the Buffaloes will participate after finishing fifth in La Quinta on the Norman Course last February. The Buffaloes will remain in the area, popping over to Palm Desert and The Classic Club for the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate (Feb. 23-25). Next up will be the Lamkin San Diego Classic (March (9-10) at San Diego Country Club with a quick turnaround for Arizona's Thunderbirds Intercollegiate in Tucson (March 16-17), another first for the program. Colorado will close the month in Stanford's "The Goodwin" in Palo Alto (March 26-28), the 28th time the Buffaloes are entered in the tourney. CU finished second in both San Diego and Palo Alto last March.
The final tune-up ahead of the league meet will be Arizona State's Thunderbird Intercollegiate (April 10-11), a tournament CU has played in on and off 17 times since 1973 and another the Buffs finished second in last April. The Big 12 Conference Championship closes out the regular season (April 27-29), set for the always challenging Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, Kan.; CU finished sixth in its return to the conference last April.
The NCAA Regionals are set for May 18-20 at six different sites: Bermuda Run, N.C. (hosted by Wake Forest); Athens, Ga. (U. of Georgia); Columbus, Ohio (Ohio State); Bryan, Texas (Texas A&M); Marana, Ariz. (Arizona State); and Corvallis, Ore. (Oregon State). The NCAA Championship Finals are set for May 29-June 3 in Carlsbad, Calif., where the University of Texas will once again host the event at La Costa Golf Club. After four days of stroke play, the champion is then determined in a match play format with the top eight teams advancing.
Individuals who are not on the travel squad or who rotate in-and-out will also play in some select other tournaments as long as they are within their competition day maximums to do so.
