IRVING, Texas — Seven Colorado Buffaloes were named to the 2026 All-Big 12 Team, the conference announced Monday, after the men's cross country team won the Big 12 Conference Championships and the women placed fourth.
"It was a great weekend for our program," CU Head Coach Sean Carlson said. "Our guys just got it done. It was a really, really close meet. Two points separated the top two."
Dominic Serem finished first for Colorado, taking second overall and leading the pack of Buffaloes past Oklahoma State in the two-point nail-biter. Meshack Kipruto was close behind, coming in fourth overall. The remainder of CU's lineup clung to one another, taking ninth, 10th, 11th and 15th place. Colorado totaled 36 points to claim the title.
With six men awarded, it is the most top 15 finishers in Colorado program history in a Big 12 Championship race.
On the women's side, Sheylah Kurgat was up front and crossed the finish line in eighth overall. She helped guide the Buffs to fourth place, just one point behind third.
"Our women's program, each year they've gotten better, so hopefully we can come back next year and make a run for the title again," Carlson said.
The top-15 finishers in each race earned Big 12 honors.
