BOULDER – The Colorado Buffaloes women's basketball team took down Fresno State in its second game of the season on Saturday afternoon at the CU Events Center by a score of 73-56.
Colorado (2-0, 0-0 Big 12) led throughout all 40 minutes. The Bulldogs (1-1, 0-0 Pac-12) managed to narrow the deficit in the third quarter, outscoring the Buffs 16-11, but CU was ultimately able to pull away in the fourth quarter and secure the win.
"Proud of our team," Head Coach JR Payne said. "We showed a lot of resiliency and great effort on the glass to beat those guys."
Sophomore forward Logyn Greer led the Buffs' charge over the Bulldogs, scoring a career-high 24 points. Her two made three-point shots also tied her career best.
"I shot 25% last year, which was terrible," Greer said about her three-point shooting. "So I was in the gym a lot, like a lot, to really work on it."
The Buffaloes outrebounded Fresno State 41-29, with Greer also leading the way in the paint, tallying a team-high nine rebounds.
"It speaks to our intensity and desire to rebound," Payne said. "We're not the biggest team or the bounciest team, but I thought that was a game changer. We knew that the team that won the battle of the boards probably would have a great shot at winning the game."
