BOULDER – The Colorado women's basketball team (20-8, 11-5 Big 12) remains home early this week to battle Utah (17-11, 8-8 Big 12) at CU Events Center on Feb. 24 at 7 p.m. MT. 
 
The Buffs meet the Utes for the first time in over a year, and for the 46th time in program history, looking to break a two-game losing streak. CU dropped the matchup last season, 77-60, on Feb. 12, 2025. The teams' have traded wins and losses relatively evenly over the last few years, with neither team stringing together more than two wins in a row since the Buffs succeeded in doing so between the 2013-14 and 2014-15 seasons. Colorado looks to tie up the all-time rivalry at home this Tuesday.
 
On Saturday, the Buffs collected their third win over a ranked team this season with a statement victory, 75-68, over then-No. 20 Texas Tech (Feb. 21). This was head coach JR Payne's 19th ranked win of her career, moving the Buffs to 3-3 against ranked opponents this season. The game saw 13 lead changes and 10 ties, but the Buffs put the game away, honoring senior forwards Anaëlle Dutat and Jade Masogayo in the process.
 
TIP-OFF (TL;DR)
  • CU is led by 10th-year head coach JR Payne, who has led the Buffs to a 184-124 (.597) record as CU's eighth head women's basketball coach. Coach Payne has been extended through the 2028 season and has led the Buffs to three NCAA appearances, two WNIT appearances and one WBIT appearance.
  • In its second year back in the Big 12, Colorado was picked to finish ninth in the Big 12 Preseason Poll. Colorado is 120-154 (.438) overall in Big 12 conference play. The Buffs boast an 11-5 record in conference play this season, and they are fourth in the conference standings.
  • The Buffs return four from the 2024-25 roster: Sr. F Jade Masogayo, So. G Kennedy Sanders, 5th C JoJo Nworie and So. F Tabitha Betson.
  • Colorado welcomes 10 newcomers for the 2025-26 season, five transfers and five freshmen. The five transfers include Jr. G Zyanna Walker (Kansas State), Jr. G Desiree Wooten (North Texas), Jr. G Claire O'Connor (Gonzaga), Jr. G Maeve McErlane (DePaul) and Sr. F Anaëlle Dutat (Rhode Island). The five freshmen include G Erianna Gooden (Fork Smith, Ark./Northside H.S.), C Jade Crook (Albury, Australia/Basketball Australia Center of Excellence/Lake Ginninderra College), G Isa Hämäläinen (Lorentzweiler, Luxembourg/European School of Luxembourg 1), F Logyn Greer (Lansdowne, Pa./Friends' Central School) and F Sophie Zadel (San Antonio, Texas/Alamo Heights H.S).
  • Sr. F Anaëlle Dutat leads the Big 12 in offensive rebounds per game (3.8) and total offensive rebounds (107), and she is third in conference for rebounds per game (8.2). She is also tied for eighth for steals per game (1.9). Dutat had 11 points, eight rebounds, two steals, one assist and a block against then-No. 20 Texas Tech (Feb. 21).
  • Sr. F Jade Masogayo is tied for 23rd in the Big 12 for points per game with 12.1 and is 14th for free throw percentage (77.8%). She is also tied for 16th for blocks per game (0.8). Masogayo finished with seven points, five rebounds, two steals, an assist and a block against TTU (Feb. 21).
  • Jr. G Desiree Wooten is tied for 19th in conference for points per game with 12.6, tied for 19th for assists per game with 2.6, and tied for 17th for steals per game with 1.7. Wooten totaled 16 points, seven assists, five steals and four rebounds versus the Lady Raiders (Feb. 21).
  • Jr. G Zyanna Walker is tied for third in conference for steals per game (2.3) and tied for 21st for assists per game (2.5). Walker led the Buffs versus the Lady Raiders with 18 points, three rebounds and three steals (Feb. 21).
  • As a team, the Buffs are second in the Big 12 for offensive rebounds per game (13.5), third for rebounding margin (7.5), third for steals per game (10.36), sixth for scoring defense (61.1), sixth for rebounds per game (38.6), seventh for scoring margin (8.4), and seventh for turnover margin (1.61).

MILESTONE WATCH: Sr. F Anaëlle Dutat has 107 offensive rebounds this season, nine away from matching the program record for offensive boards in a single season (116). So. F Tabitha Betson has 177 rebounds, 23 away from 200. Fr. C Jade Crook has 91 points, nine away from 100. Jr. G Maeve McErlane has 95 rebounds, five away from 100, and she has 191 points, nine away from 200. Jr. G Zyanna Walker has 398 rebounds, two away from 400.
 
MILESTONE CHECK: Jr. G Desiree Wooten reached 900 career points against then-No. 20 Texas Tech (Feb. 21). Sr. F Anaëlle Dutat reached 900 career rebounds against Arizona (Feb. 17). Sr. F Jade Masogayo reached 200 career assists and 600 career rebounds against the Cougars (Feb. 14).
 
FIGURE THAT: Four Buffs scored in double-figures against the Lady Raiders (Feb. 21), the 16th time this season CU has had four or more players with double-digit points. The Buffs are 13-3 in games where four or more players are in double-digits. Versus then-No. 20 Texas Tech, Jr. G Zyanna Walker had 18 points, Sr. F Anaëlle Dutat had 11 points, Jr. G Desiree Wooten had 16, and Fr. F Logyn Greer had 13.
