Colorado Volleyball To Celebrate 40th Anniversary This Fall

Celebration to Include Commemorative Logo, New Wall of Honor, Reunions, and More!
BOULDER – The University of Colorado volleyball team will commemorate four decades of program excellence with a season-long celebration that recognizes CU's rich volleyball history as well as its exciting present and future.
To kick off the celebration, the team has unveiled a special commemorative logo that will be included on player uniform patches as well as on merchandise available to fans all season long.
A new Colorado Volleyball Wall of Honor will also be created at CU Events Center, paying tribute to the legendary players who have represented CU and who will be recognized at various home games throughout the 2026 campaign.
"The 40th anniversary of Colorado Volleyball gives us a meaningful chance to honor the athletes who built the foundation of this program," head coach Jesse Mahoney said. "There's a deep tradition here, and this milestone not only celebrates everything we've accomplished over the past four decades, but also highlights the bright future ahead for Colorado Volleyball."
Former players will be invited back for a special reunion weekend when the volleyball team takes on Kansas and Baylor on Nov. 12 and Nov. 15, and the program will be recognized during the Houston football game on Nov. 13. More 40th Anniversary festivities, including fan engagement opportunities, will be announced in the near future.
It's a big year for milestones at CU Boulder, as the university is also celebrating its 150th anniversary with events and activities throughout the year. Colorado's soccer team is also celebrating the program's 30th anniversary this year.
The 2026 Big 12 Colorado volleyball season begins on Sept. 25 against Utah at CU Events Center, as the Buffs look to build off last year's NCAA Second Round appearance. CU will also play a competitive nonconference slate in late August and September, to be announced at a later date.
Under head coach Jesse Mahoney, Colorado finished the 2025 season 23-9 and went 12-6 against Big 12 opponents. Coach Mahoney has led the Buffs to a 164-135 record in his 10 seasons at the helm. Last year, the Buffs made their 22nd appearance in the NCAA tournament, sweeping American in the first round before falling to four-seed Indiana in the second round, CU's 12th second round appearance in program history. Colorado had 23 wins last season, marking the program's 13th 20-win season, its first since 2022, while also setting marks for the most wins in a season since 2017 and tied for the third-most wins in a season in program history.
