Big 12 Reveals Opponent Matchups for 2026-27

June 11, 2026 | Women's Basketball

IRVING, Texas – The Colorado women's basketball team locked in its conference opponents and destinations for the 2026-27 season on Thursday, June 11, as the Big 12 Conference set the league's matchups.

Mirroring last season's 18-game schedule, the Buffs will host Arizona, Kansas, K-State, Baylor, Houston and UCF at the CU Events Center this year. Colorado is looking for its fourth win in a row against both Kansas schools. Last season, the Buffs upset then-No. 20 Baylor to advance to the Big 12 Tournament semifinal (March 6). When hosting UCF, it will be only the fourth time in program history the Knights have matched up with CU, and just the third time hosting them.

Colorado will head to Utah, Iowa State, Cincinnati, TCU, Texas Tech and West Virginia. The Buffs will be playing at Cincinnati for just the second time in program history. They'll head to Horned Frog country for just the third time in program history, coming off a thrilling one-point victory over then-No. 14 TCU last season (Feb. 8). Colorado also beat then-No. 20 Texas Tech on senior day last season (Feb. 21). This will be CU's second trip to Morgantown, W. Va., all-time, and fifth meeting overall with WVU.

The Black and Gold will also play three home-and-home series against Arizona State, BYU and Oklahoma State. This is CU's second season in a row playing Oklahoma State and BYU twice, and its first time playing Arizona State twice in a season since being in the Pac-12 (2022-23).

Last week, CU Women's Basketball launched "The Standard," a new brand platform campaign that will define the program throughout the 2026-27 season. Built upon head coach JR Payne's longstanding belief that Colorado Women's Basketball is defined by hard work, toughness, and discipline, The Standard reflects the culture that has helped guide Colorado to five consecutive 20-win seasons and four NCAA Tournament appearances in the last five years.

Throughout the 2026-27 season, The Standard will serve as a connecting platform across recruiting, social content, in-game presentation, ticketing, storytelling, donor and fan engagement efforts, and merchandise. The initiative aims to strengthen the overall brand of Colorado Women's Basketball while honoring the foundation that has positioned the Buffs among the nation's top programs.

The launch of The Standard coincides with the start of season ticket sales for the 2026-27 season. Fans can secure their seats now and be part of the next chapter of Colorado Women's Basketball. The Buffs return seven players from last year's squad while adding five talented transfers and two standout incoming freshmen.
