SENIOR (2019): One of the best players in Colorado history, Stinson ended her career with her best season. She led the team with 64 goals and 16 assists for 80 points. Her 80 points and 64 goals rank second on the CU single-season chart. Nationally she was 17th in goals and goals per game (3.37), 31st in points and 42nd in points per game (4.21), ninth in shots per game (8.26) and shots on goal per game (6.05) and was 20th in free-position goals per game (1.05). She led the conference in goals, goals per game, free-position goals per game, points, points per game, shots per game and shots on goal per game. Additionally, she was seventh in the Pac-12 in assists per game (0.84). Stinson had a record-setting season. She scored eight goals against California (3/10), which was a school record. Of those eight, six were scored in the first half, which was another record for the Buffs. Stinson scored six goals in the first half against Arizona State (4/7), which tied that record. She scored at least three goals in 12 games and in four of those games she recorded five or more. Stinson also led CU with 23 caused turnovers. She tied her career-high of three in two games as a senior and had four games where she caused a pair of turnovers. Stinson racked up numerous honors during the season. She was named the Pac-12 Player of the Week three times and was selected to the Tewaaraton Watch List and Top 25 list. During the postseason, she was named the Pac-12 Attacker of the Year after earning a spot on the All-Pac-12 First Team. Stinson was also selected to the Pac-12 All-Tournament Team, IWLCA All-West/Midwest Region First Team and to the IWLCA Senior All-Star Team.
 
JUNIOR (2018): Stinson continued to be an important part of CU’s offense and switched from midfield to attack. She scored 58 goals and 77 points, which both ranked second on CU’s single-season list at the time. Both of those marks, in addition to her 19 assists, were second on the team during her junior campaign. She was ranked 39th in the NCAA (second in the Pac-12) with her 58 goals and was 48th in the nation in goals per game (2.90). Stinson led the Pac-12 with shots per game (8.15), which was also fifth in the NCAA and was second in the Pac-12 in shots on goal per game (5.65), which was 15th in the NCAA. Stinson also recorded 34 ground balls, 19 caused turnovers and five draw controls. Stinson’s season got off to a strong start as she scored a then-school record seven goals in the Buffs’ 20-10 win against Michigan. Three of her seven goals came on free-position attempts, which is tied for fourth in the CU single-game record book, and she also added an assist for eight points. That performance helped earn her the first-ever Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week honor. Stinson recorded four or more goals in nine of 20 games. She had a second eight-point performance on March 4 as CU defeated No. 19 Virginia Tech 18-3. In that win, Stinson found the back of the net five times and added three assists, three ground balls and two caused turnovers. Inside Lacrosse named her a preseason and midseason All-American. She was also named to the All-Pac-12 First Team and the IWLCA All-West/Midwest Region First Team.
 
SOPHOMORE (2017): Stinson established herself as a key part of Colorado’s midfield, earning a spot on the IWLCA All-West/Midwest Region Second Team. She was ranked fourth on the team for goals (36), assists (15), points (51) and free position goals (15). Stinson commanded both ends of the field, recording 20 groundballs, 10 draw controls and six caused turnovers for the Buffs. The sophomore was a consistent force on offense, only having one game without recording a goal or assist. She played in all 20 games with 19 starts, she had three game-winning goals, and scored a career-high five goals twice, which tied a CU single-game record. She was ranked 40th in the country for her average of 0.75 free position goals per game. Stinson led the team in man-up goals, recording seven during the season. Stinson had a career-best performance against No. 6 Penn State on March 12, where her nine points broke Colorado’s single-game points record. She had five goals and four assists, which led the Buffs to a 16-11 win in their second victory against a top-10 ranked team. As a result, Stinson was named the CU Female Athlete of the Week and MPSF Offensive Player of the Week for the second time, as well as the Alpha Lacrosse National Player of the Week and CU’s first IWLCA Offensive Player of the Week. Stinson scored another five goals in the MPSF Tournament semi-final game against Stanford on April 28 to put the Buffs through to the conference tournament game. The junior was selected to the MPSF All-Tournament Team and IWLCA All-West/Midwest Region Second Team.    
 
FRESHMAN (2016): Stinson had a solid freshman season, playing in all 18 games with eight starts as an attacker/midfielder. She scored 13 goals and had three assists for 16 points, while attempting 44 shots, including 39 on goal. She also had two game-winning goals, 11 ground balls, eight draw controls and three caused turnovers. Stinson scored twice in her first career appearance, including the game-winning goal during an 11-10 win at Denver on Feb. 12. Her four draw controls were a season-high in an 18-4 win at Fresno State on Feb. 21. Her first career assist came in a 15-14 overtime win against James Madison on March 3. Stinson scored twice at No. 12/10 Stanford on April 3 and she scored two more times in a 16-3 win over San Diego State on April 10. She netted a goal and an assist in a 23-0 win over Saint Mary’s (Calif.) on April 15. Stinson had season highs of four points and three goals in a 16-4 win over California on April 17, earning her MPSF Rookie of the Week honors one day later.
 
HIGH SCHOOL: Stinson was a two-sport athlete at Trinity Episcopal School in Richmond, Va. She was a five-year varsity starter, earning five letters with the lacrosse team and a four-year varsity starter, earning four letters in field hockey. A two-time lacrosse captain, Stinson earned numerous accolades, including a First-Team All-American selection as a junior and senior, First-Team All-State in 2015, and in 2014, she was an All-State Second Team selection. Stinson, the 2015 Trinity Episcopal Female Athlete of the Year was also selected to the USA Today All-USA Virginia Girls Lacrosse Team the same year. She was an All-Conference team selection five times and led the team in scoring during her freshman, sophomore and junior seasons. She is the all-time leading scorer at Trinity Episcopal with 345 goals and 124 assists, highlighted by scoring 94 goals and tallying 18 assists in the final year of her prep career. Stinson played on the WDNT-Mid-Atlantic team from 2012-14 and was part of the Mohawk bracket champions in 2014. Also in 2014, she was on the Under Armor All-American-DC Metro team. In 2011, she earned Rookie of the Year honors, was named Offensive Player of the Year in 2012 and earned one of the team’s top honors–the Most Valuable Player award as a junior and senior. As a member of the field hockey team, Stinson played midfield and defense and helped guide her team to a Conference Championship in 2014, while also earning All-Conference honors the same season.
 
IN THE CLASSROOM: Stinson is majoring in environmental studies.
 
PERSONAL: Miranda Stinson was born in Alpharetta, Ga. on June 8, 1997, to parents Thomas and Elizabeth Stinson. Stinson loves fishing, rock climbing, horseback riding, hiking, plants, reading, and movies. Her favorite foods are pasta and cheese and one of her favorite books is Divergent. After graduation, Stinson aspires to be the owner of her own business.
