AT COLORADO: 2007 (Sr.)?An honorable mention All-Big 12 performer (Associated Press), he finished second on the team with 28 receptions, which he gathered in for 308 yards (11.0 per). His six touchdown catches were a team best, and he finished third on the team in scoring (36 points); he was a favorite target on third and fourth downs, as he picked up 12 of his 16 first downs earned on those downs, including three touchdowns on fourth down plays (against Florida State, Miami-Ohio and Oklahoma). He saw action in 12 games (three starts, including the Independence Bowl against Alabama), as he missed the Baylor game for precautionary reasons after suffering a recurrence of a concussion against Oklahoma which had first occurred against Miami. He had 14 catches for 10 or more yards and three for 20 or longer, with his top receiving games against Kansas (7-90, 1 TD), Florida State (4-55, 1 TD) and Nebraska (4-51, 1 TD). In the bowl game, he had nine catches for 94 yards and two touchdowns, all team bests, with the nine catches the second most in school bowl history. Both TD grabs against the Tide came on third downs. He played in the Texas vs. The Nation All-Star game following the season.

2006 (Jr.)?He played in 11 games, including three starts, as he was hampered at the beginning of the year due to a hip injury. He caught four passes for 36 yards on the year, averaging 9.0 yards per catch, with a touchdown (a 1-yard play against Kansas State); his four catches came in four different games. He was eligible to play after sitting out the requisite redshirt year following his transfer from Western Michigan, and had entered the fall atop the depth chart at tight end.

2005 (Jr.-RS)?Redshirted; he practiced all fall at tight end as he had to sit out one season per NCAA rules after transferring to Colorado from Western Michigan. He participated in spring drills (he had three catches for 21 yards and a touchdown in the three full scrimmages), and underwent arthroscopic surgery on both his shoulders to alleviate some chronic problems.

AT WESTERN MICHIGAN (2003, 2004; Fr./Soph.)?A two-year letterman under coach Gary Darnell, he was a 2004 second-team all-Mid American Conference selection and John Mackey Award watch list candidate, as well as a 2003 Freshman All-American (second team) by The Sporting News. In his two seasons at WMU, he had 55 receptions for 549 yards (10.0 average) and six touchdowns, playing in 23 games overall. As a sophomore, he played in 11 games and made 25 receptions for 218 yards (8.7 average) and three touchdowns, with his longest snag covering 23 yards. He had a career high six receptions (for 46 yards and a TD) against Eastern Michigan in a 35-31 loss. He was a preseason second-team All-Mid-America Conference team member coming off a strong freshman campaign, when he had 30 receptions for 331 yards (11.0 average) and three touchdowns. His top performance that season occurred in a loss to Virginia when he reeled in five grabs for 77 yards (15.4 per catch). Western Michigan was 1-10 his sophomore season and 5-7 his freshman year. WMU often employed two tight end sets, and his teammate, Tony Scheffler, was a second round draft pick by the Denver Broncos in the 2006 NFL Draft.

HIGH SCHOOL?A Grand Rapids Press All-State Dream Team member at tight end his senior year, he was named to the Detroit News Blue Chips list, Detroit Free Press Fab 50 Squad (No. 23) and was a first-team All- Ottawa-Kent Conference performer. He also played in the Michigan high school All-Star game, after capping a brilliant career at Hudsonville where he finished with 98 career receptions, including a single-season school record 53 in his final year. During that campaign, his 53 grabs were good for 828 yards (15.6 per) and he also scored five touchdowns. His top prep moment was when he posted 10 receptions for 160 yards and one score in a loss to Jenison. Under coach Dave Duran he lettered three times in football, as Hudsonville was 8-3 his senior season before surrendering in the semifinal round of the state playoffs. He also lettered twice in basketball and baseball, where he was an all-conference selection on the diamond.

ACADEMICS?He majored in Education at Colorado and graduated December 21, 2007. He earned first-team Academic All-Big 12 team honors as a junior and second-team honors as a senior.

PERSONAL?He was born November 12, 1984 in Hudsonville, Mich. He is married to the former Aubree Gerlach, a graduate of Michigan State, as the two were wed June 30, 2006. Hobbies include bass fishing. His brother, Todd, was a 2001 All-American defensive tackle at Hillsdale College.
