WHAT SPARKED YOUR INTEREST IN THE RALPHIE PROGRAM?
I have always been driven athletically, love being on a team, and love animals. As I learned more about the program from my brother, who was a Ralphie Handler, I quickly learned that this unique program was the perfect combination of all of my passions.
Â
WHAT DOES RALPHIE MEAN TO YOU?
Ralphie symbolizes tradition, community, and pride at CU. Having a live mascot present at tailgates and the football games overshadows the average college mascot. She adds so much more excitement and meaning to the university.
Â
WHAT'S THE HARDEST PART OF BEING A RALPHIE HANDLER?
The hardest part about being a Ralphie Handler is coming up with ideas on how to train the buffalo and identifying small variables that could affect the safety and outcome of our runs. We always have to be on our toes and be prepared for anything to happen.
Â
WHAT'S THE BEST PART OF BEING A RALPHIE HANDLER?
The best part of being a Ralphie Handler is getting to have a such a special connection with a buffalo that is a part of something so much bigger than just yourself. She is the pride and spirit of the entire university.
Â
WHAT'S ONE THING THAT SURPRISES PEOPLE THE MOST WHEN THEY ASK YOU ABOUT BEING A
RALPHIE HANDLER?
People are surprised by how Ralphie recognizes the handlers and coaches. She is very comfortable around all of us and people are surprised by how smart buffalo are.
Â
WHAT'S ONE THING ABOUT RALPHIE THAT SURPRISED YOU THE MOST AFTER BECOMING A
RALPHIE HANDLER?
I was most surprised by the fact that Ralphie has lots of toys that she likes to play with. She particularly loves to play soccer with our assistant coach, Colton. This shows how much of a personality Ralphie has and how she has connections with the coaches and team.
Â
WHAT ARE YOUR HOBBIES?
Some of my favorite things to do are to go hiking, skiing, snowboarding, hunting, paddle boarding, dirt biking, and archery shooting. I also enjoy playing volleyball as well as staying in to watch movies or hang out with family or friends.
