High School: Bailey is a 2009 graduate of Omaha Central High School. She was the last member of CU's recruiting class to sign, doing so in April. She was listed as the ninth best available unsigned player for 2009 according to the Collegiate Girls Basketball Report. The report also ranked her as the 31st best power forward in the nation. She received honorable mention to the 2007 Nebraska Class A All-State team as a sophomore for Omaha Central and was a three-time letterwinner. Bailey was injured early in her junior season and did not play basketball as a senior in 2009. A versatile athlete, Bailey also excelled on the track for the Eagles, earning a pair of letters. She was a state qualifier in the high jump, 200 meters and the 400-meter relay in 2007 and set the school record in the high jump at 5-3. She played club basketball with the Cornhusker Shooting Stars and the Midwest Trailblazers. Her favorite high school basketball moment was when her team beat the No. 1 team in the state her sophomore year.
Academics: Bailey plans to major in Integrative Physiology at Colorado. She would like to be an athletic trainer at either a high school or college. Bailey is a member of the National Honor Society and was on the honor roll. Her senior year she was an African-American Academic Achievement Award winner.
Personal: Kailah Krystal Bailey was born June 29, 1991 in Long Island, N.Y. She is the daughter of Karl and Opal Bailey. Bailey has one younger brother, Karsten, who is in the seventh grade. Her father Karl competed in track & field at Queens College. Bailey enjoys singing and writing and has a deep love for music. She has played the saxophone since fifth grade and when she reached high school she played in the marching band and sang in the choir as well as competing in athletics.
